Hats Off to the Modder Community!

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 6:35 pm

Many of the creators of the most excellent mods browse these forums. I'd just like to give a big round of applause to all of you, because frankly you're doing a damn good job! :woot:

Oblivion has the inherent ability to evolve on its own thanks to the Construction Set and the creativity of the community. The entire game can be improved times over with the designing architecture of clever hobbyists. Anyone who has spent the time to delve into the difficulties of mod creation, struggled through the process of innovation and testing, and brought us all a wonderful improvement to the game, deserves a fat clap on the back! :goodjob:

Some mods are simply jaw-dropping. They improve upon the build of an already-excellent game, renewing it for us and soothing its subtle flaws. I hope the time and trouble you put into your mods is as rewarding as the time we simple folk spend playing them. Thanks from a player!

:trophy: Use this thread to congratulate those particular modders who have created assets to your game!

I would like to applaud the makers of the following:

It looks like "spoiler" is the new tag of choice. I have been missing the "codebox" tag too. :P

@Albertine: I love your cheer, and I have to say I'm touched that you chose HTF's older mod AWS for you AN variation...lot's of nice memories there. I am mixing that one with his newer mod, Enhanced Weather.

Thanks to the modders here too! ^___^

All I can say, as I play the game through again, is that the experience is just completely different. It feels more epic, deeper and less like a console game. There's a certain depth I've attained with mods, and aside from a few weird crashes and minor glitches, they seem to be working (I've just jinxed myself).

Hate to double post, but it's been a while and I'd like to bump for some mods I add to the list, which are entirely too excellent to do without.

Active Mod Files:0D All Natural - EW + NW + AWS.esp [Version Final]0F WindowLightingSystem.esp10 Immersive Combat Music.esp [Version 1.00]11 SoT_Holiday.esp12 Crowded Roads.esp [Version 2.0]22 Kragenir's Death Quest.esp23 KDQ - Rural Line Additions.esp26 Enhanced Vegetation [150%].esp27 StealthOverhaul.esp28 ZumbsLockpickingMod - OBSE.esp29 RenGuardOverhaul.esp31 Streamline 3.1.esp34 Oblivifall - Something's Not Right.esp [Version 1.0]35 Enhanced Economy.esp [Version 3.4.3]36 CT-Backpacks.esp37 Oblivifall - Ambiant Dungeon SFX.esp [Version 1.0]

Streamline saved me from major CTD issues with saved games, Oblivifall is just a flat out good idea, Kragenir's is cool, Reneer's is loads of fun...etc etc.
I'm excited for all of these projects which are still being messed around with.

now close this pointless thread and get back to work.

I'll add my thoughts, because I think I go too long without expressing my appreciation, and I regret that. As a (very) minor mod-maker myself, I understand a tiny fraction of the hard work that real modders put into their creations, and we users reap all the rewards. Too often, we feel we're entitled to something, and blame modders for our own failure to follow directions, RTFM, look at the FAQ, etc. Most notably is the recent departure of Iliana from her wonderful opus, Elsweyr. It's been said many times, but I feel it needs to be said again, that we, who truly appreciate the time, commitment, and hard work that these wonderful modders put into their wonderful mods, let them know how much we enjoy their work. Maybe not in every thread for every mod we use, but a kind word in a thread like this one goes a long way. To me, one honest player, excited about a mod and eager to help make it better (or enjoy it just the way it is... some mods ARE perfect :)) is worth a hundred imbecilic flamers who can't be bothered to read the plugin description field. So, I echo the sentiment... thank you, for all your wonderful contributions to this community and to this game. :cake: & :icecream:

It's a great community this game has. Well, the people who aren't stupid and mean(who are sadly common), anyway.
I've seen some great mods, played a couple of them, but in the end, I give unending support to any modder who tries(and doesn't get mean and stupid).

Okay, I have to jump in here to extend a special thanks to Tomlong for guiding me through the mod process. It seems like Tomlong hangs out in the forums just helping the general populace, and well, I just think that's cool as hell.

Oblivion is running ridiculously, amazingly good for me now. My mind is blown at every turn, the graphics are great, the FPS is nearly always above 60, I have tons of new stuff to do, it's really smooth, and crashes hardly ever happen.

I'm going to cut and paste my refined list of mods, these ones, in my limited experience, are just absolutely incredible.

It has been quite a while since I properly played the game but I hope to give it another shot next month or so. If the current active release threads are any indication it's going to be great! :celebration:

Damn you all modders! :swear: I bought two new games recently and didn't touch them yet because I can't help but notice interesting mods here! Downloading, Installing, Testing... and ending up playing for hours. I should stop coming here altogether.

Keep up the too good work.

I hear you! I've been accumulating a huge library of games that I need to play. I'm still slowly working through 2007's crop of games, while I keep coming back to Oblivion. I started playing the Witcher recently, deciding I needed to start working through some other games in my collection. All it did was make me wish I was playing Oblivion instead... It was so linear and limiting! I got about halfway through Lost Planet: Colonies Edition too, but then came back to Oblivion... I still want to play Crysis someday...

I have Wrye Bash set up with around 6 separate character profiles with mods targeted at those character classes; and the game is totally different and customized each time I play. My current pure Mage character is a blast to play, and hard as nails at lowly level 3.

Damn you all modders! :swear: I bought two new games recently and didn't touch them yet because I can't help but notice interesting mods here! Downloading, Installing, Testing... and ending up playing for hours. I should stop coming here altogether.

Keep up the too good work.

I agree with all of the above. The mods are awesome, and the community is just precious. I started my modding experience in early 2008, when, like a lot of people, I reinstalled Oblivion, and when I look at my game now I am amazed at the work that was accomplished. Four years after its release, it is a much more immersive and just plain entertaining game, and the forums are still brimming with activity, with knowledgeable, friendly, helpful individuals ready to make it an even better experience...Man, I'm proud of you all. Thank you Bethesda, thank you modders, thank you community. (Getting ready for the academy awards here :P )
