The reason why Brink wont be as successful as it should.

But that's like saying it's wrong for a car company to deny you the optional extras like the sunroof or the sat nav or whatever because you can't afford it. A bonus extra is a bonus extra. Keeping multiplayer to yourself like EA do is like taking a whole wheel. You are entitled to that wheel because you payed for it, but not the sat nav, because you bought the cheaper version of the car specifically because it's cheaper.

Right, that's what I said, Denying someone content because the bought it used is unfair to the person and will burn bridges.

oh my god, you just could not be more wrong!! you are saying its okay for them to take away a sunroof but its not okay for them to take a wheel? taking something away is taking it away, regardless of what that 'something' is. And who says you are "entitled" to the wheel and not the sat nav? And worse, your example completely takes out of context what we are talking about. to fix your outrages examples: its like you go to the dealer and buy a car with a sunroof, you get bored and decide to sell the car. I buy your used car, but now, the company says they have to "take back" the sun roof because I bought the car from you and not the dealership. yeah that is more along the lines of what we are talking about.

Honestly, you are just biased because you dont care about the single player campaign in-game content. But since YOU want to play multiplayer, now all of a sudden you are "entitled" to it.

Presumptions. You've missed my point here, for a start I'll be playing both camaigns single player on all three difficulties first, so single player content is great as far as I'm concerned. You've got me all wrong man. If you're buying a used version, you get what you pay for. Pre order bonuses are not taking anything AWAY, it's ADDING a slight bit to the people who buy it new right out of the gate. If you had to pre order something to access an entire different mode, that's like having to pay to go upstairs in the house you just bought.

Also, I'm not trying to be incendiary here, so calm down a little.

First off, I am calm.

Second, you say its okay for them to take a "bonus" away, but not the second floor to a house you bought. its the exact same thing. you are arguing that some things are justifiably removed while others are not. im justifying that if you buy something nothing should get removed, not the bonus not the second floor, not the multiplayer.

Just to further explain the situation to you, and im not going to use any anologies:

If a publisher sells a new game for $60, and that game comes with a "bonus" (or multiplayer code, or dlc, whatever) and that bonus is sold separately, for example, at $15. then they arent really giving it to you for free, they are selling you the game for $45 and bonus for $15 = $60. Now all of this would be okay if they separately sold the game brand new, codeless, for $45 and you had the option to buy the bonus for $15 and break even. In this case then your car anology would apply and yes, you get what you paid for, hence you pay less you get less, FROM THE DEALER. but not when it is used. To explain myself even more, what publisher are doing is that they are chopping up the game in pieces that can only be accessible by codes. Why? because cd games can actually be sold to other people but bonus codes cannot. How f*ing convenient, right? And if you still dont get my point, its like you are buying a new car, but leasing the wheels. so every time someone buys your used car, that person has to go back to the dealer and pay them so you can fully enjoy your car.

And on a side note, i am calmed. But seriously annoyed by the fact that you are siding with greedy publishers instead of gamers.

I'm not siding with publishers! Although I think we're actually both right here. The pre-order bonus is NOT part of the base experience of the game. It's an afterthought that they add to encourage people to pre order. Codes are buyable from other people, provided they don't use it, but then why should mister bought-it-used get to have the bought-it-new incentive and get it cheaper? It's not fair to the fella who was so desperate for the game that he saved up all his pennies bought it new.

LMFAO!!!.........then LMFAO some more!!!!! yes, poor little guy who couldn't control himself!! his obsession with video games got the best of him! oh the poor victim!!

and why exactly do you think used is always sold cheaper?
1) tear and wear.
2) used, mostly but not always, means it has no warranty.
3) unlike the self indulging poor victim, this person had to suffer and wait for the other guy to finish with the game so he could get a shot at it.

and that is why used=cheaper. and regarding the bought-it-new incentive that you mentioned, ill reiterate that if that bonus is not resealable, then it is a profit technique used by publishers. but by no means what so ever is it a bonus. its like the PSN plus. "pay us $60 a year and we will give you little games all year round...for free!!"

I think we both can tell we aint gonna convince each other. so im calling a cease fire here. keep posting if you want but im going back to studying for my midterms.
