I really don't get why you would target my post instead of the OP for your anti-HC mode sentiment. Did you read the whole post? I know there were about four lines there...

I could say that same to you as well Read the last sentence.

Sure, you said "also" indicating that I was supporting his position. I considered the HC idea, proposed ways to make it work but ultimately said that it would not.

Basically I watched the new trailer from Gametrailers.com, it was pretty sweet, my heart sank when I heard there's no oneshot headshots or room clearing explosives.
I hope they have a hardcoe mode that puts this back in because I love hardcoe. Sure it makes a single guy an army which Brink isn't about but make it an option please.

If you have the same or similiar thoughts you should post.

What makes these mechanics desirable? Is it just because you like the feeling of killing things in one shot? Contrast that with how frustrating it is when you are killed so fast that you have no chance to react. You literally had no input on your own death. Your own death from a random grenade or a single shot at distance is in no way under your control. The ammount of skill you have has no impact over you surviving in these situations. Do you like having no control over your life/death in these situations?

Wouldn't you prefer to have the ability to fight back, and through skill defeat your opponent, rather than be forced to die without a chance to exert your own ability?

I'm always for a hardcoe mode for two good reasons.

One) I'm not a fan of having to waste half a mag trying to down someone. I'm a gun enthusiast and know what they can do. I know the feel of the kick and what damage a bullet can do on several different types of material. So when I have to aim at a guy and dump half my mag to "wound" him...its just not too fun for me. I want to go into a room, engage a target with a quick percise trigger pull and move on. I find accuracy is much more focused on and ammo is more highly regarded. Bullet Sponges = No Fun.

Two) People play differently when they fear a quick death. Battlefield BC2 is a great example of this. When playing softcoe, people play rather casually. They run out into the open, cross known sniper killzones and face tanks like they're toys. Not so in hardcoe where crossing the streets have to be seriously considered, snipers have to be dealt with cautiously and facing a tank openly is almost certain doom.

In Closing I stray away from the term "real" as its a game but I will say people playing a hardcoe more play more consciously of the consequences of their actions.

You most certainly do have control over these things, just not in the same way as situations where you can escape after the first shot. HS kills promote a different style of play, being more attentive to your surroundings, and a little more cautious with how you proceed. The shooter also has to be careful in these situations because the shot gives away his position. I don't need OHKs, but I still hope that an appropriately placed HS still causes incapacitation with a strong enough weapon.

I understand the issue with grenades, as the random toss has become extremely popular in most games due to not having the need to conserve ammunition/grenades. People end up throwing them without a care in the world and if they get a kill they get a kill.

One of the underlying principles of Brink (according to Richard Ham) is that there are no one hit kills. So I do not think that they would implement a mode that involves most weapons killing in a single bullet. :nope:

This
The devs have said in a ton of interviews that they're trying to get rid of things like hardcoe mode, so it would be pretty counter-intuitive
