Invisibilty on Touch/Target

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 7:34 am

Assuming we will have followers and also assuming some of those followers won't be essential, why not have the ability to make them invisible as well?

If I stumble upon a mountain troll and I don't want to fight them, I'll cast invisibility and go on with my day. My follower, on the other hand, will probably be ripped to shreds.

Why not either let me cast invisibility on them or let me teach them the spell so they can cast it when appropriate?

What do you think?

This all depends on how smart the combat AI will be. If they're like in Oblivion that can be shortly described as "Og. Julius Verucius sees Ogre. Julius Verucius goes SMAAASH!!!", then there won't be a point - they'd break the spell by interacting within a few short seconds.

Not sure ...i'd say no...its too much of an easy option...especially where quests are concerned.
I'd prefer to use my brain and challenge myself, rather than cast a spell on them and....on you go,alls well......no thanks :)

I thought it was mentioned that the AI were smarter.

Like when you come near a group of bandits who are camping somewhere in the woods the leader would say (from a distance) ''You there! Go away or I will send my team of mudcr...errr...I mean team of specialized bandits after you!''

Now when that happens and you have a follower I really hope that your follower won't automatically go to them and kill them. <_<

Hopefully he would say to you ''shall I chop their heads of?''

And then you can tell him better not to. Or you could say YES!

I also had this idea.

( My topic died the day I made it <_< )

It was this.

When you have a good friend and you ask him to be his body guard for awhile he would maybe say yes!

Now you two are talking as you are traveling in the mysterious woods (Since zoom-in talking does not excist anymore  )

Suddenly your friend gets an arrow shot through his head! You quickly find cover behind a rock and try to kill this dangerous archer who has murdered your friend!

He was a good friend :violin:

Agreed 100%. I think followers need to be overhauled anyway. Perhaps a realtime squad command function. :goodjob:

He means "Lest plai Mass Effect"

While I agree that you should be able to give simple commands to NPCs if their AI is a certain way they should be able to override your command. For example if you try and get a coward to help in a fight he should still run if it looks too dangerous.

Exactly. Being able to make simple commands to organize your followers would be very welcome. Though it should never override the NPC's natural tendencies. However, having to backtrack because Martin had to get off his horse to fight a fricking wolf is uber annoying. Back on topic, including invisibility, there should be multiple new ways to buff your group. It might make being a cleric (support class) a viable choice for a PC.

I'm thinking that you need to invest some time into your illusion skills and learn how to cast %100 chameleon on target. Invisible just wears off as soon as the attacking starts and companions attack when they see an enemy so using chameleon is the way to go.

It was the edge I needed to give martin in the final battle at high levels to keep him alive.

I'd like to turn random people invisible in the street, and watch hear their confusion.

They should also give us the ability to make objects and items invisible. It's totally possible lore-wise but the technology has prevented that from occurring in video games in the past.

I think it would be a great idea. If I recall correctly couldn't you give your companions stealth boys in New Vegas and they would actually use them? Maybe I'm having false memory on that... Anyway since I like to play assassin-esque characters I would gladly welcome this. Or at least being able to tell my companion to be passive and stay passive.

We should'nt be able to make our allies or enemies invisible ,nor use chameleon on them,i really dont like the idea, being invisible in the first place was too easy.
We do not need it even easier by ruining escort quests etc, that would be no different than just going for a walk.

^^^^^Do you know how long it took to be able to do %100 chameleon on touch for an extended amount of time!? That's not easy or cheap.

What about that random NPC in Vivec in Morrowind who was turned invisible by someone? I think I should have the ability to do that. Then maybe another NPc could go on a quest to help them...

Wouldn't the more logical application of this spell be to summon your own skeletons at a great distance?
