A mod for better raindrops?

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 10:21 pm

Is there a mod that makes the raindrops look better, and make them stick out more. Half the time when it's raining I cannot even see the rain drops. And I've tried messing with the ini. And I haven't gotten the results I've been looking for. Help?

Thanks.

Wow, I guess I could have easily found that, but thanks it's exactly what I was looking for.

Realistically speaking, rain is actually pretty hard to see. Just saying.

You sir, are not from England. Or Washington state. Or Ireland. Or you'd know real rain makes it hard to see just about anything else. :)

Realistically speaking, rain is actually pretty hard not to see, you should eat some carrot.

In my experience, rain is much more obvious from the wet ground than from the raindrops themselves. Arcania had a pretty nice looking 'wetness' shader applied on the ground and all nearby objects when it was raining. I wonder if something like that could be possible to code into the MCP or MGE.

Trust me, in temperate, island climates (like Vvardenfell) one does not need to look at the ground to know it's raining:

(although the idea of a 'wetness' shader is a good one)

You must not live near where I live, or you have bad eyesight, because rain is very easy to see.

That would be amazing.

Caveat emptor: HedgeHog 12's 'Better Rain' mod will cause screen darkening with MGE distantland active when using any of the 'Raindrop' meshes with extended texture mapping effects like bump, detail, gloss, etc. However, any of the _x.4 versions should work ok.

Thanks, that explains it :) I like the x.4 versions anyway, less FPS intensive.

Oh my, how odd. I was just wondering why my screen got so black and dark. I've tried to figure it out and got irritated, so I quit. Decided to do something else and there you go, answering it for me. Although I read the readme, I forgot that detail. Thank you.

Thanks ...I didn't have either of these...they'll go well with http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1164235-wollis-weather-mod/ since it tweaks the weather for regions and increases the chance of rain (and snow) in the appropiate regions. :goodjob:

That photo shows exactly what I'm talking about. The individual rain drops don't pop out at all, they manifest more as a kind of fog. And if you look up against sky, they're impossible to see.
