Couple of questions on the dungeons.

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 3:19 pm

Hello,

I am wondering if the dungeons give better loot on higher difficulty settings? Also, I read that the dungeons all scale to your character. Does that mean they are all of the comparable difficulty to one another as well?

Thanks,

Chris

Difficulty setting won't effect the loot you get, but your level will. The level of the creatures/characters within the dungeons will also increase as your level increases, any difficulty differences between the dungeons will be from the creature types those dungeons are populated with, and potentially the layout or placement of the creatures relative to one another.

The difficulty slider in this game only affects the ratio of damage dealt and received by the player, nothing more.

As for the dungeon loot, yes, it scales with your character's level. This means you will always be fighting creatures and obtaining treasure appropriate to your character's strength. This method of "scaling" is also rather infamous for being badly implemented in this game, but I'm a bit too tired to go over that in detail right now.

Thanks for the replies. If all the dungeons were always going to be of equal difficulty it would take a lot of the fun out of exploring them. Glad to hear that probably is not the case.

Actually that probably is the case. All dungeons are roughly tuned to your character's level. There might be some differences, and some characters might be better at defeating some types of enemies and not so good with others. But in general they are all about the same difficult.

Unless you use mods. The OOO overhaul mod makes dungeons very different in their level of difficulty. As well as, generally speaking, making the dungeons more difficult the deeper you go into this. Mods like OOO are only available on the PC.

Ah too bad. Strange game design there. I will get the mod, thanks.
