Crysis 2 Beta

Post » Sat May 14, 2011 2:35 am

I think it's pretty fun. My only gripe is that they only released one map. :(

It does need some polish though.

Also, it's weird that they departed SO much from the Crysis War's gameplay. Not that it was a bad/good move, I just find it odd.

And I'm curious to see if anyone else noticed they screwed up New York. Did anyone else notice that the placement for the Empire State building and Central Park was completely wrong?

What is it about the controls people don't like? Is it the button layout or do they feel slow/clunky etc? I didn't get into Killzone 2 because of the heavy feel of the controls.

But I don't understand why there wouldn't be a PC demo. Why would Microsoft pay developers to have a demo exclusively on the Xbox when most PC games run on Windows which is owned by Microsoft??

for the same reason that microsoft paid bethesda to release the DLC on xbox 360 first. now that they are losing to PS3 they are going to try and bribe their way to sales.

Well there isn't a PS3 demo either so obviously M$ pitched in some extra dough.

Ya that's always the way and that's why PC users got shafted this time around for the DLC for FONV. Cause they are using steam and not GWL M$ got PO'ed pulling their support for PC stuff.

IMO it felt a bit clunky and stiff.
Maybe I just have played Halo Reach too much. :P

Tried the beta, Im not a fan put it that way. They havent exactly improved upon anything. It still feels as awkward as the first crysis.

The score for the game is amazing. Probably one of the better things. I've never heard a more epic loading screen.

The game looks great...it plays...alright...i have some issues with it:

1) lack of vibrational response to damage
2) Movement might be too clunky when climbing
3) A heavy reliance on stealth mode alienates modern multiplayer games
4) Weak death animations (Oblivion ragdoll like)
5) Akward hitboxes and server errors.

Sadly the stealth mode being a strong factor in the multiplayer is a main reason why I won't be playing this game multiplayer.

Why would we not respond if we disagree? You make a moronic, elitist statement like that and then you ask that no one make a rebuttal? You know what's holding PC gaming back? The developers themselves are. If they don't want to push PC gaming forward, that's their prerogative, but then they go and blame consoles which is just idiotic. Crytek could've made Crysis 2 look better than Crysis while making the console versions as they are now. That would probably require extra work. Now, do we blame the easy option for existing or the developer for taking it?

Sorry if that sounded harsh.

no, your the idiot if you dont think consoles are holding gaming back.
seriously.

First of all, I don't know where this "idiot" thing came from, since I never called anyone an idiot. I said FrozenAffairs's statement was moronic, but I never called him a moron (which he knows, because we were talking about it via PM). I also said that developers blaming consoles for holding back a game when they themselves are the ones making the shortcuts is idiotic, but I never said "idiot". I don't rely on personal insults to aid in my arguments.

When the PC receives a lousy port of a game (Ninja Blade, for example), do we blame the game? Do we blame the other console the game is on? No. We blame the people who made the lousy port. When a game on PC doesn't look its best because it's also on consoles, do we blame the game or the consoles? No. We blame the developers who cut corners which leaves the PC version of a game looking less than satisfactory.

It's the developer that cuts corners. Do consoles present an opportunity to cut corners? I suppose you could say that, but it's ultimately up to the developer to decide whether they're going to cut corners or not. Do we blame alcohol for drunk driving accidents? No, we blame the person who drank one too many shots at a party knowing he didn't have a designated driver. Do we blame guns for murder? No, we blame the murderers. I know they're extreme similes, but it's the same principle.

P.S. When I say "we", I don't mean the majority. I'm just talking about who's technically at fault.
