Retro Movies

The first two movies that popped into my head when I thought about "retro" movies have already been mentioned:
Soylent Green
Videodrome

Also, Wizard of Oz deserves at least an honorable mention.

Young Frankenstein.

I second this, along with anything directed by Mel Brooks.

I never took Conan the Barbarian seriously either :P

You see, I bet you're watching it incorrectly. You need to watch it, while listening to the commentary. Arnold sounds like he is stoned the whole time, and the commentary in general makes the movie hilariously awesome. Especially in a room full of good friends and beer.

That haven't been tried by title?

Metropolis.

and if you think naked lunch is hard, try eraser head, I dont even think its physically possible to understand that movie.

Metaphysically possible to understand, physically impossible to watch. Doubly so with tinnitus...

Soylent Green (1973)

Damn straight.

Whoa!

As for a classic that I haven't mentioned in a while, how about The Longest Day? That film can truly b called epic.

Nice, that movie had everyone in it. How about some; Bridge on the River Kwai, Zulu, Hell to Eternity, Heaven Knows Mr. Allison, Bataan, Seven Men from Now...etc.

Videodrome (1983)

Man, that freaking movie... It's one of those films that make me just want to punch things. It's great though :D

I'm going to recommend:

Rope
Rear Window... you know, pretty much everything by Alfred Hitchcock
The Warriors (1979)
All the classic Universal horror films. Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, The Mummy, etc.
Abyss (1989)
Beast Master. (Just pretend the sequels don't exist)
That's all I can think of at the moment.

Movies after the 90's, I would recommend Dead Man (1995) It's one of my favorite movies of all time.
