Games with great stories

I also really like the story of Vampire the Masquerade - Redemption, even though it was rather clichéd.

I've always been really curious about this game, considering I loved Bloodlines so much. How's the gameplay in Redemption? It looks like it's point and click or something similar to the first Neverwinter Nights.

It's somewhat similar to NWN, though without (or with very few) side quests. However, coming to the game with Bloodlines level of expectations is setting yourself up for disappointment. It's a very good game, but Bloodlines is much better.

I generally mostly play on PC, but I also have an Xbox 360 and a PS3.

Apart from games being mentioned, I highly recommend you buy Suikoden from PSN, it got a very good story. Suikoden II is even better, but it's not available on PSN.

http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/outcast have a good story too.

I've got to second Deus Ex, the main story itself is great, but what really makes it amazing is all of the scattered pieces of lore you can discover along the way. By reading every book, newspaper, public access terminal and data cube you can find, you're able to piece it all together and come out with a shockingly complex story that would normally be hidden if you run-and-gunned your way through the game. You have to work to find the lore, and you actually want to.

In most aspects Bloodlines is by far the superior game, but the gameplay of Redemption is so very different that you stop comparing them really soon. It is a very linear point & click action rpg. Most of the game basically goes like, cutscene with a few dialogue options > fight your way through an area killing dozens of enemies > bossfight > cutscene with a few dialogue options > repeat. There's a few city hubs were you can walk around as you please, but besides buying equipment there's nothing to do there. Dialogue isn't nearly as prevalent or as important as in Bloodlines, but it has some impact on the story. And although you have Obfuscate you'll probably never use stealth. The one thing that Redemption does much better than Bloodlines is the vampire Disciplines. There's many more of them and they're much more elaborate. Playing through the game again with a different combination of disciplines has given it quite some replay value for me.

I think Redemption is an awesome game, definitely worth checking out. I had to play it on my old pc though, as I couldn't get the patch to work on a 64-bit operating system. And the patch is pretty important, since without it you can't save unless you're at your haven. And you'll die a lot, especially in the first part of the game.

I'm 95% sure that http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/vampire_the_masquerade_redemption includes the patch and it worked perfectly fine on my 64-bit Win7.

Dungeon siege 2 was just epic for me, I thought it was awesome, it was like the gaming equivilent of a TV series, I also enjoyed the stories of Allout 3, Morrowind and Age of Empires 3

The Legacy of Kain series; Sometimes its enough to make your brain explode, Intricate twists and turns that keep you on your feet to see whats round the next corner.

Vampire The Masqurade Bloodlines: Dark and gritty in a world where you can indulge your inner vampire.

Knights Of The Old Republic 2: Imo its the empire strikes back of the kotor's, a much darker take on the colorfulness of the first game.

Morrowind: Morrowind fulfills its many ambitious intentions. It's a beautiful-looking, sprawling, and completely open-ended game that allows you to play pretty much however you like.

Summoner: a local Farmhand has the mysterious power to summon monsters and other creatures, it takes him all over the world to fullfill and understand his destiny.
One of the very first RPG's i ever played, and i still love it.

F.E.A.R series: eerie tale of one little girl who becomes everyones worst nightmare.

Aliens Vs Predator 2: The monolith version folks, the story is what the avp movies should have aspired to be
