How can a guy get into the Thieves' Guild?

I've been robbing stores left and right and yet I still get no letter. I'm missing something, right?

"To join, pick ten or more pockets successfully, or break into a store without an Open spell and wait for a letter." (If I remember correctly, the letter does not arrive instantly...)

Have you been breaking into the store the pure thiefly way? (i.e. wait until after closing and pick the lock the old fashioned way)

(don't read too much from UESP, or you'll ruin too much of the fun!)

[edit: minor typo]

easiest way is to pickpocket the archer in privateer's hold that is stuck behind the bench 10 times

I personally prefer to pick pockets from citizens on the street and evade the guards (While pickpocketing any unsuspecting guards I come across. :D )

Robbing a store will be a long process for getting a letter from the Thieves Guild. Pickpocketing is the easiest and shortest way to do it.

My pickpocketing skill could be compared to Stephen Hawking's motor skills, so I've been lockpicking (the old fashion way) into stores at night. Why is looting and the general ransacking of stores a longer process than the Artful Dodger method?

When pickpocketing, even if you fail to pickpocket a target, you have a slim chance of receiving an invitation.
What I do is run around town picking pockets here and there, especially in the crowded areas.

But my favourite thing to do : Pickpocket a guard then run away. :D

If you have the health or armor for it, you can practice your pickpocketing on enemies in dungeons. It gets a little tougher after they see you, but you can still find balls of yarn somewhere on the body of a sixy vampire.

Haha!! :D

The oddest I found was either a shopping list on an orc, or bat guano on a gargoyle. :P
