They did kind of what killzone did; simplify it and it is easier to make look good. You can see where they cut corners in graphics but that is because the art style demands it. What is bad graphics? To me I need to have the characters blend into the environment or else trying to sneak around is impossible when you stick out like a sore thumb.

I like the graphics. Like other people said though, I would still play a crappy graphic game as long as it runs smoothly.

That "point-cloud"-technology is still in the middle of development, though. It's not a practicable thing yet.

Hence the reason I said "In-Theory." Once they can get that system off the ground its going to blow polygons out of the water. There's a system in development called Unlimited Detail which shows off a lot of what they can do with point-cloud systems. Here's a link if anyone's interested --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-ATtrImCx4
The dude's voice gets annoying after a while though so be forewarned.

I'm gonna go with the people saying quality over the looks. Hell, I still play Jedi Academy and that runs on a VERY outdated engine (id 3, if I'm not mistaken) and that game runs very smooth and is also still fun to play.

Personally I like the graphics, the reason they stated the difference was to stand apart. They don't want to look like COD or Battlefield, and I for one am happy about that.

SD wants you to feel like a super hero, not an army grunt, the comic book looks emphasize that attitude, games are fantasy

Hate to break it to you dudez, but CoD uses the id Tech 3 (Quake 3) all the way from CoD 1 to CoD 7 (blops?).

Brink uses id Tech 4 (Doom 3).

Not that this is a CoD discussion, but i just needed to point it out.

^^

Yeah Jedi Academy was sick, second only to KoTOR in terms of star wars games (at least in my mind)

But, there's still a neccesary division between "good graphics" for a game type/genre. Shooters need to have a certain level of detail to allow target identification (in goldeneye and Wolfenstein 3d it was color contrast between model and wall) and such.

Pong's graphics are essentially perfect for what Pong is, but are Brink's graphics acceptable for what Brink is?
