Current Interplay

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 9:05 pm

Interplay is only the vaguest shadow of what it used to be. It is struggling for finance and skilled employees. Its led by people I have zero faith in.

As for the MMORPG I don't think we can avoid it. So if we must have it, we should place it in the hands of people who are known for quality and for good stories. I would favor Bioware, but they will be busy with their SW mmorpg for the foreseeable future. A cooperation between Obsidian(Story/lore/characters) and Bethesda (Financing, programming) would be Ideal for me.

I wouldn't trust Interplay to deliver a quality product, rather I would trust them to delive a half-assed attempt that will go [censored] up soon after launch.

I don't think we're alowed to discuss the MMO...

I don't see why some many people like Obsidian over Bethesda story and characterwise... With Obsidian's story I just didn't give a sh*t but I cared a strangely large amount with Bethesda's ans Obsidian's characters were just as blank and boring as Fallout 3's (I felt the same way with KOTOR2 and Alpha Protocol), I'm not trying to start a Bethesda vs. Obsidian thing but I'm just wondering what people see in them (besides some of the original Fallout creators).

I'd love Bethesda to employee a couple of companies such as Obsidian to help them with the MMORPG but not make it for them, because atleast I know how bad that turns out(looks at Vegas).

Just as I didn't gave a [censored] about the train wreck(shameless thievery of Panda's words, sorry couldn't resist  ) plot in F3 and just went on exploring. :mohawk:
Some people like 'depth' of the said story and characters. That's a pretty indisputable fact right there when you compare the companions for example. Or the quality of dialogue.

There's a reason why people like dialogue/plot-heavy games like Dragon Age and such. Why can't the Fallout series have the best from the both worlds?

Interplay needs to die off and the Fallout MMO needs to be destroyed before the franchise is ruined(again).

The MMO is inevitable at this point

Thats entirely subjective, Do you ever noticed that some of us like it

RPG is not loot and find cool things in cool places and kill everything in your way

What I'm saying is F3 and F:NV characters were both dull, and NV wasn't dialogue heavy it was... It wasn't heavy on anything really.

I admit the companions were better but almost all of the other characters were dull...

And the dialogue didn't match what the person was saying 10% of the time. In Fallout 3 there wasn't one off word or one spelling mistake (that I noticed during my seven playthroughs).

The MMO is inevitable at this point.

I just hope it turns out well...

I understand a lot of people like it, I just don't know why!

Well obviouly, but I'd like that as an adittion (I found iy was almost completely absent in F:NV)

It's being half assed by a company which only owns a quarter of an ass and that quarter of an ass is in the middle of a serious legal problem.

It must be destroyed.

Who cares? Let the MMO be released and svck, or it don't. It'll just be another Fallout game we will enjoy, or we'll hate it and throw it down in the same pit as FO:BOS. I don't see why you'd need to destroy it, would it piss on Fallout's rumor and drag down sales for Bethesdas future (and canon) Fallout-games?

There was no exploration or cool things to find (not buy but find)at all.

When I got bored of story's and side missions in F3 (which only happened once or twice) I went out an explored, I went through the metros and came across much needed ammo or stimpacks but in Vegas when I got bored of the story (which was about half an hours after I murdered Benny) I just felt like selling the game, which I will once I find the time to go to Gamestop, and then I will procide to buy another copy of Fallout 3 (not for the hell of it, my dog bit it and it doesn't work anymore).

Maybe because exploration isn't NV's focus? If all you care about is dungeon-crawling then I don't see why you bother with any other RPGs than Bethesdian ones.

Did you read my entire post or just the first two sentences?

Edit: Sorry I meant my last post, which said I like exploring as a sort of sweetener for the game.

the rest of it had no bearing on the conversation, was just a matter of opinion and a backhanded insult.

Fallout 3 didn't produce anything interesting. It's a world full of things that don't add up with a black and white story oriented around ep1c Michael Bay sploshuns that's riddled with enough plot holes to sink an air carrier.

Yeah, Fallout 3 did have some hideous awful mistakes, but it did do some things right. I like how they confused Fission and Fusion

I like how the lore-broken cars powered by a nuclear reactor magically catch fire prior to the stereotypical mushroom cloud explosion.
