Ok im sorry but this is completely driving me insane.. And simply Googling "Fallout 3 1.7 game wont start" delivers a whole tonne of people having the same issue.

I had Fallout 3 installed which was the base retail version, I finished the game and want to start the DLC stuff, so to make sure everything is all sweet, i applied the 1.7 patch, it finished installing ok, but i go to run the game and it crashes immediately.

1) Reinstalled game six times now.
2) Installed Games For Windows Live.
3) Installed the mod/patch thing that disables Games For Windows Live.
4) Applied that fix where you force the utilisation of 2 cores instead of 4.
5) Removed using CCleaner, cleared all my data folders, then reinstalled, still wont work.
6) Set compatibility mode to XP SP2, SP3, Vista - Still Nothing!!
7) Run as administrator - SET
8) User account control disabled
9) Kaspersky turned off, uninstalled, still not working.
10) Updated .NET to latest version, NOTHING!!!
11) Updated all Windows updates, still no good.
12) I AM LOSING MY F**KING MIND!! FIX THIS GAME FFS

Is anyone at Bethesda able to give me a real bloody fix to this problem? Or maybe you should get the people who bought your game to figure it out themselves.. F**king lazy tech support.

Have you tried running in windowed mode? This worked for me but I couldn't play the game anyway due to a repetitive, unfixable freeze so I got a refund.
