Custom Dialogue Probs with Sound plus help in general

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 12:31 pm

Hall, Im new to this Forum but not to Oblivion Modding nor forum posting.

Im a Regular on TESNexus and have up to nine mods of my own available, as well as 30+ verious Fallout 3 mods on the f03Nexus.

Perhaps you might have seen me about etc.

Anyways for my first post and topic, I would love to request guides, tips and help if possible to get my Companion Teinvaar mod up and running.

I am using my Own Voice and Acting Skills for Teinvaar's Voice and also try to create the Scripts and Dilaogue with it.

This mod is more or less my attempt of re-creating a Companion Mod in the Style of Emma's Very Popular Companion Vlja which made me want to create my own Companion using my own Voice.

Im posting here because I heard great things going on here and people are a tad more friendly and helpful than on the Nexus forums tho certain individuals like Emma and the famous Moderator Buddah has helped me quite a Bit.

Anyways, down to business:

I have already created a basic version of Teinvaar that is the Greetings, Follow and Stay options as that was easy to follow and has been my so far, first attmpt of scripting. I need a general crash course in Dialogue creating and such, creating the Dialogue Queue. I have created a script so far too but brain dead on how to make it in the CS tho i am Most willing to learn.

I have also tried so much to get my mp3 Voice files to work ingame but that is being a right Female Dog about it.

Mostly due to the Mp3 files not being set properly. I know the CS requires Mp3 files of Dialogue be set in these Preferences:

Frequency: 44100 Hz
Bit Rate: 64 kbps cbr (constant bit rate)
Channels: mono

I use Audicity to create the files and they were made on the 44100 Hz & I also made them mono by the Sliptting Left and Right and setting both to Mono, Tho how do I Change the Bit Rate to kbps cbr (constant bit rate) what ever that is?!

Thanks and Im slowly getting this, bit by bit.

MP3 files exported from Audacity will not work in Oblivion, there is a hardcoded incompatibility. Instead, export your files from Audacity as .wav file (which you need to create lip synching anyway) and use a different utility like Switch to convert your .wav files to an Oblivion friendly MP3. The settings do not need to be exact, this tutorial will help: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Audacity:Voice_Acting_Workshop_I#Export_your_files :foodndrink:

Yup, got all that sorted out now.

did the following tweaks to mp3 files: 64 bit rate, 44100 hz and mono which is required to be heard ingame.

I followed numerous guides and got it all done....

Tho I tried my hand at adding the new Dialogues but god almighty it is doing my head in.

Maybe to complex for me to get my head around. Im pretty sure I could do it but each time I try, I end up having a slight hissy Fit about it.

Perhaps somebody could be willing to help me with scripting? Not just give me pointers but help with some of the work?

I might be asking alot tho If ya either bored or wish to give your scripting skills some practise, please give me a hoot.

This Mod of Mine is intended to be fully voiced as thats the eay part sorted.

1. You need two versions of all of your voice files. One needs to be a compatible .wav file, and the other needs to be a compatible .mp3 file.
2. Install the old version of the Construction Set. You can find this on the Nexus. The latest CS will have to be uninstalled.
3. Use the old CS to make .lip files. You will need to type in the dialogue and direct the CS to the .wav files. Use http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13742
4. Reinstall the latest CS.
5. Go to your mods relevant quest, and double click on a dialogue selection. There, you will see a file path and file name.
6. Name your .mp3 file the indicated file name, and put it in the indicated folder along with it's corresponding .lip file.
7. ?????
8. Profit.
