I've heard that using the CS LOD generator can be very buggy, which is why I asked here, even though I already read that page. Is this true? Are there any extra tools needed that will make the LOD better and optimal?

If you mean generating landscape LOD meshes, the CS is the only choice you're going to have. Yes, it can be glitchy, but you just need to do as the landscape LOD generator suggests - go get a sandwich or something. DO NOT disturb it when it's making the mesh OR doing textures for a quad because your results will be botched.

If you mean LOD as in distant viewable objects, you really only need to concern yourself with making sure your stuff has _far.nif files and then just have the player use tes4lodgen to handle that.

TES4qLod generates the textures and far objects, but if you're using any custom made textures it can get kinda wonky. TES4LODGen does far objects with the click of a button.

The buggyness of the CS depends on your mod, you computer, and how benevolent your deity of choice is on a particular day. I'd say try the CS first, and if one of the steps doesn't work look up the external programs.

I have a problem when I want to use the Plugins.tes4lodgensettings file when using TES4LODgen.

I saved it using notepad so it is a .txt file.

Anyway, I wrote this in the notepad:

[Default]
Rule=Skip

[Worldspace]
PGIsland01=Replace
PGEnemyBase04=Replace

Yet, when the program starts, loads the esm, esp and so on, there is a line of text that says "Replacing Tamriel" and this is when I quit the program. I even tried adding a specific line that says Tamriel=Skip but it still shows Replacing Tamriel.

Did I forget to add something in the .txt?

On a Windows Vista or 7 system, the plugins.tes4lodgensettings file needs to be saved in C:\Users\\Local Settings\Application Data\Oblivion or it won't have any affect. You should also delete all of the files in the DistantLOD folder before running it so that you only end up with the ones you want.
