Toggle Aiming

*Before saying anything, know that there is a huge difference between control options and control mapping. Mapping is the layout while options is how the button works. For example, in TF2 there is an option for the medic to click once with the medigun and the target will continue to be healed until he's physically cutoff from the patient or if the player clicks again*

So games like Far Cry 1, Crysis 1& 2, and Borderlands all had hold-click aiming, a little odd considering the first 2 are considered PC games at heart; those silly german devs. None of these games had options for traditional aiming. It was kind of annoying in Borderlands when I definitely preferred one click aiming and playing BC2 around the same time wasn't helping much, either. However, I could deal with it.

At one time time, I decided to play around on my friends Xbox copy of borderlands, and I looked at all the control schemes, all based on other games (Brink definitely wasn't the first with their clever names, Perfect Dark did the same thing too; beyond the point though...). I really don't like pressing stick to sprint so I decide to go for the Halo control scheme. Little did I know that they didn't change it to toggle, nor is there the option to. They make you hold down the freaking stick! What the hell?!

So first question/ discussion point: What is the default for PC, toggle or hold? And second discussion point: Will there be an option to choose between toggling and holding? If so, will it be available for all platforms. If not, will the game smartly choose based on what button it's set to? (I spent 5 minutes looking up terms like toggle, hold and other stuff. I looked up controls and only got topic on mapping)

from what i have read, sprint is toggle, to turn on smart you mush hold down sprint. As for aiming, i would assume there would be an option (for pc, not sure what options are like for console)

The button for sprint (LB for Xbox, and L2 or L1 for ps3?) if you press it once you sprint until you stop moving or press the sprint button again. If you hold it you activate SMART. You HAVE to hold it to use SMART. Well as far as I know.

I prefer "hold to aim" over a toggle.

That being said, this is probably the most common thing to be adjustable.

Wait is that true? Well I may have to take advantage of the custom mapping after all.

Well. from what I've seen about the controls, this game has probably one of the most complex control schemes to ever be put in a game!
