Fallout 3 FREEZES : HELP ME

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:25 pm

Hi everybody.

I am under windows 7, I have 4go RAM memory, ati radeon hd 5450 as graphic card, intel I5 as processor and... Fallout 3 doesn't work.

When Fallout 3 is lunched, game started, I can play, but not more than 2 minutes. After 2 minutes max, the game freezes for an unknown reason (for me).
The first time it freezes, I choosed ULTRA quality, I thought that it was the problem, so I tested LOW quality, which worked perfectly on my previous computer which has 1.5Go RAM, a poor graphic card and a poor dual core... but it stills the same.
EXACTLY the same. I installed the lastest patch, even changed my antivirus... It stills the same.
I'm a little bit desperate now, can someone help me please ?

Thanks in advance.

are you using any kind of mods?...because if my specs can run it I know anyone should.

Windows 7 64x,
intel duo core 2.2ghz CPU,
3gRAM,
Nvidia 7300 LE/128 dedicated, 1024 total memory

My advice is unistall, reinstall, then run laucher to let it optimize, then run( make sure your refresh and resolution are compatible. because I have to run in 640x480 just so no lagg, but when I put in 800x600 refresh rate of 60hz it wont show, and anything above that it show but 1-4 fps....ouch

oh yeah one other thing I think you have to have "GAMES FOR WINDOWS" INSTALLED....GOOD LUCK

- Turn off Xfire. This thing creates massive problems with FO3, including crashes and freezes.
- When in main menu after game start, return to desktop and then back into game. May prevent freezes/ crahses/ buttons (inventory) jamming and or being unusable ingame.
- Turn off AA completely. It's kind of useless, and just uses humongous amounts of GPU power.
- Turn off Vsync if on.

What i can think of off the top of my head.

I don't think he needs to mess with his graphics any. Hes already trying low. We need to know whether or not he has mods or not. He can also try deleting his ini.

This is probably due to your ram. Find the line in your fallout 3 ini file bUseThreadedAI=0 and change it to 1 - then add on the next line iNumHWThreads=2.

See if this helps, if not you should post you load order.
