[REL] Dahrk Creatures I

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 11:51 am

I got my 3d app of choice up n running today. I'm a 3d artist from the beginning (Not a world builder or a scripter). Trying out the most recent version of niftools I discovered I could edit a lot of what I import, including creatures and still maintain animation, I decided to make a smoother, higher poly (actually kind of to many unnecessary polys), but more high detail none-the less waverunner. Here's a screenshot:

That is pretty good C_Mireneye. I'd say somewhere inbetween the original and what you did would be good. A smoother waverunner would be nice. But since polys are important, how would it look if you editted the original with only a few extra polys? Oh, maybe keep the face like that though, it looks really cool being that rounded. :)

Hmm.. Dunno, if it's easy to export it, I can do one with some less detail. So there will be three versions? Still this is not overkill. I guess maybe If you'd fight a pack of em.

You mean that your version doesn't triple the polys or anything? I just assumed that because it was so smooth its polys must be outrageous. But if you say its not overkill, then keep it that way because it looks good.

So far my export turns out invisible o_O I'll try to sort it out someday soon.
'Course if Melchior wants it, I'd like to have his green light =)

Heh, you may want to fix the title...

(Hint: It's dark! Not Dahrk.)

Wow that is very nice! It was a rather blocky mesh I used before. But your's is definitely an improvement! Especially the head. I would love to use that if you want to send it to me. Sorry it took me so long to respond, the library wasn't open on Sunday (Easter).

Yep, that's my name don't wear it out

But thank you for noting that, I don't like spelling things wrong on here... too bad I can't have firefox on a library computer, with it's spellcheck feature :(

Yes, quite right, quite right :nerd:
Thanks Westly ^_^

Nice work :) Owlbear FTW!

ha ha. I haven't fought an Owlbear since I played 2nd edition D&D back in 1980-something. That brings back memories. Can't wait to take them on again.

You are very welcome! I hope you enjoy hunting them (or just enjoying their looks ;))

Actually, I did get quite a few of my creature ideas from D&D creatures. Even though I've never played myself... that's what Wikipedia is for :spotted owl:
I haven't fought one yet myself. Tell me if they're any fun :)

Thanks Daywalker! I can't wait to see them in the mod :) and yes I do remember giving you my permission. I really like seeing my work in mods, to me it means they were useful. And that is satisfying as a modder.

Actually, I have a sneak peek of a creature for numero dos (there are already several which you can see in the old thread, which weren't finished for this release). http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/Trollkyn.jpg. I call it a Trollkyn :hehe:

Hey all, I am bumping this thread simply to mention an update.

I made an updated body texture for the Owlbear for my Lyithdonea mod. I decided to release the new texture here since I think it looks a lot better than the first version. So http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7377 at PES.

Thanks Chaka, and yes, I do have lots of work to do ;) - II is still sitting somewhere on my hard-drive. It'll probably end up being incorporated into my larger mod. Everything else of mine seems to be heading that direction, lol!

Do I need to do anything special to make sure this is compatible with Creatures X? My guess is yes but I forget what it is I have to do.
