F2 Map Movement

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:36 pm

When I first installed it when I went on the world map it moved pretty fast, now I installed the patch and its god awful slow.
Anyway I can speed this up?

Weird. Under no circumstances have I heard this happen. The speed that the map operates on is dependent on how fast your processor is. Most beastie comps nowadays should zip across the map faster than a New Reno druggie tweaking on Jet and Psycho at the same time. However, this doesn't change the amount of time passed while moving.

If you installed the restoration patch or megamod it's scripted to be very slow. It was fast before because of your operating system. There's some way to make it go faster but I don't remember.

That could be a bug. In Fallout 2 you walked on foot unless you managed to get a vehicle, once in a vehicle you traveled faster on the map.

I seem to recall something about Fallout 2 having the overland encounter rate tied to the CPU clock (which is unexpectedly fast on a modern CPU), the patches fixed it.
I don't recall if that affected the speed or not.
