I just ordered and requested tech help from gamestop, but an answer may take a while.

The problem: I am aware of the issues with Windows 7--but I have been a fan since FO1 came out, and I have been needing my FO3 fix for years now. The most recent game I have on my PC is Unreal 2004.

I paid my money to gamestop because of the Memorial Day download special. I download the code version, which I thought was the entire game. I was prepared for a long download, but it only took a few minutes to put a shortcut on my desktop with a 1.53mb application. I click on it, expecting an activation code prompt or something...but I get nothing.

Forgive me if this is some stupid oversight on my part, I was expecting a night of patching and tweeking...but I don't have anything to work with here. I followed all the links in my emails, but they just show my receipt/or re-downloads I already did.

The PC I just bought is a HP Pavilion p6787c Desktop PC-- Phenom II x4 840t with a Radeon HD 6450 and 8gbRAM. Not a gaming PC, I know, but I figured a 3 year old game should work on it.

Is the problem stupid me, my PC, or FO3?

fixed the problem as of now...my Norton anti virus was blocking the next step, then I loaded the Steam software from an old Half-Life2 DVD I had lying around.
