Magnetic Personality w/ 1 Charisma

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:50 am

So I have a 1 charisma, so I have no companions.

Will taking this perk enable me to have one companion?

I took it while in vault city and then tried to recruit that bartender but it didn't work, but then again he said something about having a health condition and I still haven't fixed that auto doc.

I lowered Charisma to max out agility, was this the right move in my build? Crossing the wastes is tough cause I'm always s outnumbered.

the consequences of your actions....You really should never put anything below 3-4 unless you know what your doing. IT should open up one slot yeah, I'm guessing you just didn't have the speech necessary to convince him to follow you.

It would.

As for building Stats are so labled 1-10 for a reason. Notice how less than 4 is bad and greater than 6 is great.

1 is bad are you sure?

kidding, kidding.

I just read alot of guides saying "make sure your're agility is really high" so I'm traded high agility for low charisma. I really haven't had too many problems, mostly just in random wasteland encounters were you can get really outnumbered.

It can work with a build like that, I've made a few characters with a low Charisma build, it ended up something like this:

STR 6
PER 8
END 8
CHA 2
INT 9
AGI 8
LU 6

Of course, this is with the Gifted Trait. To somewhat reduce the impact of my low Charisma, I chose the Speech skill. I you decided to make a very strong character that could handle the Wastes on his own, then keep going alone. You don't need the NPC's, but you do have to figure out how many risks you're willing to take, going up against an enemy on your own.

With this Character build, in the end I was a walking tank, both able to shoot from afar with whatever weapon (mostly Big Guns like the Bozar and Small Guns like the Gauss Rifle or Pancor Jackhammer) and beat them up in close range with my upgraded Power Fist. I compensated my horrible incapability to have a normal conversation or to talk my way out of a bad situation, with being able to just crush everything in my way if people opposed me.

Don't create this kind of character in your first playthrough, you'll miss out on some real nice dialogue and it can really make you feel like everything in your way has to die in order to accomplish your goals.

Charisma has always had differing views on it's value ... and so has Luck.

A low Charisma means that not many people will like you (same as in real life) and you are likely have a bit of bother persuading others to join you, unless they are also dirt-bags .

Personally, I chose to put Luck at 1 to gain the extra in other areas. It works fine and I get a great game, and who wants to win by luck anyway.

A reasonably high Charisma gives me a much more interesting interaction with others. I find that a high Agility is also good to have.

I play with no companions anyway, but have no trouble with the game, you can build up strengths during the game to a very high degree if you want to.

When outnumbered, it's not too difficult to reduce the numbers one-by-one to something more manageable, and good fun.
