That is what I have done, but I do wish that I had stayed at 32 bit, for now, at least. Luckily, I installed Win7 as a separate OS on an XP system, with its own partition.
I know it's late, and I suppose an answer was posted, but for the person your answer was addressed, As of late January, 2011, there is no official System Requirement for Skyrim.
