Shady Merchants

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:50 pm

I have a few items that I "found before they were lost" and I would like to sell these items. Who would buy stuff like this? When I try to sell these things, they don't appear in the bartering list.
Please be kind, I'm a noob, just started my first play through a couple days ago.
Awsome game so far though :celebration:

^ Yup, but keep in mind, not all of these fences are available immediately upon entering the Thieves Guild.

If you have the Thieves Den DLC (Dunbarrow Cove), you can employ a fence who will hang out there, which allows you to remain independent of the TG if you wish (or fence stuff before joining TG).

I have the GOTY edition, with all the extras checked in the data gizmo at launch of the game. I guess I'll have to unfold the map that came with the game
In the meantime I will find a place to store the rather warm items :whistling:
Thanks for the help folks

ps: what, no fishy stick? :shakehead:

This is second hand information, so I can't be certain that it's true, but supposedly the innkeeper of the Inn of Ill omen (on the way from imperial City to Bravil) has such a low responsibility rating that he will buy stolen goods from anyone. The problem is that he has almost no gold, so you'll need to first invest in his store before you can start using him as a fence and that requires your Mercantile to be 75 or higher.

Thankyouthankyouthankyou!!

I joined the gamesas forums a couple years ago when I started playing Fallout 1 & 2, but I never heard of Fishy Sticks until recently on the Fallout 3 board.
Again, thank you

You're right. I knew there was a "passive" fence out there somewhere, but I forgot who he was. He's Mannheim Maulhand, publican of the Inn of Ill Omen.

As with any vendor, fortify your Mercantile skill to 75 or higher, and you'll be allowed to invest in his shop for higher max $ per item. Not like it really matters with stolen goods... it's a crap enterprise over the long haul. The best you can typically steal from anywhere is silver dinnerware, fine wine and fancy clothes. You get better returns by raiding bandits.

Again, thank you

No problem. :)

The value of the items in question is not worth the hassle, especially since I found the bucket-o-cash that is "The Arena" :toughninja:
Made it to gladiator easily.
Now time to buy a shack :celebration:
