NavMesh help

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:02 pm

Hello, I am currently making my own small waste land space, its in its own world space so its separate from the wasteland world space. I started making a large town in cell 0,0. Some of the town go’s in cell 0,1. When I went to make the navmesh. I got to the point where I had to make the navmesh from cell 0,0 to 0,1. The navmesh’s cant be made from one, they have to be made form 2 separate ones, so how do I merge cell 0,0 and cell 0,1 navmesh so the actors will move between them?

Just make the navmesh right up to, and along the border of the two cells, then when you finalize the navmesh, a green line will appear where the game has 'connected' the two navmeshes. So anywhere where there is a greenline, its like the navmesh is one continious thing. If two navmeshes are very close to eachother but no green line has 'united' them, try moving the edges of each navmesh even closer and adjusting it, then finalizing again.

Oh ok. I was looking throe the navmash optons to find that green line I seen out side the megatun gate cell. Just could not find it. So I need to get all the NavMeshing done in the cell then finaliz it. I made a raider spawn of 15 and had them patrol into your main town as a attack seen. But the raiders would go to the end of the cell and walk back to the spawn start and chill there. NavMeshing svcks.

Yea navmeshing is really a pain in the butt until you get used to it. Well, even when you get used to it, but especially at the start. And you dont have to finish it all to finalize. You can finalize a navmesh as many times as you want. Just make sure you do between changing it, and testing it ingame, otherwise you could have issues. I finalize my navmesh whenever I am done with a portion of it, so if I forget to later, only the small portion is messed up (possibly).
