Error message, what can I do?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 10:05 am

When I start Morrowind, I get an error message. It said to go to my "Warnings Txt" (which I didn't even know we had) and it says this.

One of the files that "Balmora Expansion v1.4.esp" is dependent on has changed since the last save.
This may result in errors. Saving again will clear this message
but not necessarily fix any errors.
One or more plugins could not find the correct versions of the master files they depend on. Errors may occur during load or game play. Check the "Warnings.txt" file for more information.
Texture "Textures\_land_default.tga" count 3.
Texture "Textures\menu_thick_border_bottom_right_corner.dds" count 2.

This only happens when I have Balmore Expansion 1.4 installed. I only have this installed because I want to load up some texture fix mods, which says I need this one, so I installed it. I can still play and I see I can put a pack rat and pack guar. So is there anything I should be worried about,(because I know I was told just to hit yes to continue).

I don't know much about mods, so should I just unclick Balmora Expansion 1.4 or is it ok, and keep playing. I love the idea of Pack Quars and rats.

I don't know what the mod does, but, do you have a construction set? Try opening it, going to data files and highlight the mod on the list. On the right box part of the data files you should see Master Files of the mod. If there is an additional one aside from Morrowind, Oblivion and/or Bloodmoon maybe you are missing it's parent plugin file. If there is no mod you don't have, try playing it and see if the mod works and if all is there.

I, too, sometimes have this error even tho I use no plugins that are dependent on another master file, and everything works fine.

Just to clarify what others have said....
Balmora Expansion was made with a different version of Morrowind than what you use. This is normal, harmless and happens all the time with all of us.
You can update the mods's Masters with Wrye Mash, and the error will go away.
Or open the esp in the CS, Save, exit... but this redates the esp, so it will move in your Load Order. The Mash method is better.

The texture count errors are harmless, the game just counts some repeating textures.
