Better Lockpicking in Skyrim

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:26 am

I hated the lockpicking in Oblivion because it was too easy. if you get the feel for it you could open ANY lock even with a skill of 5.

Morrowind was very boring, but at least it made it so you can open a very hard lock until you reach an appropriate level.

In Skyrim i would like a minigame, but one where it is impossible to open a very hard lock at the beginning of the game

Maybe such a mini game is better when it is done like in Splinter Cell. I remember that was somehow a challenge.

I preferred Fallout New Vegas lock picking to Oblivion

But I realise the 'tech' in F:NV isn't really suited to a medieval scenario

Oblivion's lockpicking was designed for Xbox controllers and harder to pick locks with mouse. I always click "Auto lockpick" in Oblivion and waste ~10 lockpicks per lock because as i said it was not comfortable with mouse.(maybe it's just me)

Fallout 3's method was a big relief for me because they made it perfect for mouse! I was enjoying picking every single lock out there.

I hope they make it so in Skyrim that PC controls don't feel awkward when picking locks...

I would like a system that functions, in relation to skill, as Fallout 3's but is aesthetically similar to Oblivion's.

fallout's was definitely the best, just apply that to an older lock, and locks haven't changed that much, it is still the same basic technology
I do like Oblivion's though becuase it shows you the innards
