Console or PC?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 1:42 pm

SO i was thinking about buying Skyrim for PC for the mods, but then my friend said it is possible to download mods for consoles (Xbox 360). So has someone downloaded a mod for a console?
Did it work? And How the h*** did you do it? Discussion please.

Your friend lied. It doesn't work. It will never happen.

Buy it on PC. ;)

Don't even think about asking why it wouldn't work, there is just so much stuff to explain why it's impossible that would fill one whole page quickly.

You can't install mods on the console...

I'm sure it's POSSIBLE, but it certainly can't be practical or else everyone would do it.

It is possible, with Fallout, according to someone at work. There is apparently a software tool and a modded GECK. I don't have an Xbox, so i must admit that I wasn't listening too closely, or with much interest.

If you want mods, plan to play it on PC.

Well this thread will get locked soon. Mods on consoles breaks the EULA. End of.

It's illegal, violates the terms of service of the console and is a forbidden topic on these forums.

They will (almost certainly) close this thread, so I'd recommend being careful what you post here so you don't risk getting a warning from the moderators. It's a very sensitive topic.

Not possible. Too many factors against it.

I would list them out, but I've already listed them too much already.

I should really bind said list to a macro on my keyboard. :whistling:

There is no "toolset and free content business model" for Microsoft. They sell the consoles at a loss and only get paid for first time sales of games and DLC. Well, they also get paid for games from their own studios, but that doesn't change the model for the Xbox.

Consoles are not open platforms. That's why mods will stay on the PC until this changes. Too much red tape.

While theoretically yes, it's possible to load content on to the consoles, neither of them have the resources to really make use of them. There's a reason DLCs add new areas and don't add much into the the world.

You want mods beyond stat changes, buy yourself a cheap gaming PC.

Talking about modifying the 360 is not something we want here, Microsoft is very much against that sort of thing.
