Security... you save yourself from overpopulation by what killing all the refugees? Start using them as batteries like in the Matrix?

Or have a gladiator ring and place bets on which team will win. It'll be a bloody good time.

Why not? Ok it doesn't need to be aliens, but for me the mistery of what happened to the rest of the world is much more appealing than the fight over resources.

There isn't enough water stored in the ice caps to sink the whole landmass. IMO the reason for people fleeing to the Ark is that the remaing land got way overpopulated. And as it says http://brinkthegame.com/ark/island/ "Now, the Ark has lost contact with what remained of the mainland and exists in total isolation."

Personally, I want to find out who's pulling what strings. Obviously the security forces and the resistance fighters are just the pawns in this game.

As far as set ups for a second Brink, introduce a third force from the outside that want to take the resources and destroy the island, thus uniting the "badass" characters we develop in 1 and allowing us to take them on to 2.

i madeup a little theory awhile ago, it was that the founders are the people who are controlling both factions, they made the security be opressive while making them think their doing the right thing, while making the resistance commit terrorist acts while also making them think their doing the right thing, plunging them into a civil war, to reduce the population down to an amount that the ark can sustain.

Well that's my theory,

I'm certainly not in disagreement with that theory at this time.

Mmk. Personally I voted for "Ark gets destroyed", but I don't really care too much.

What I was hoping someone could clear up for me is all of this business about "escaping the Ark". I understand there are achievements for it, and that is how it will probably end, but this makes very little sense to me. Aren't refugees coming to the Ark in the first place because there is nowhere else to live? And even if there was somewhere to live, the Security would have absolutely zero reason to stop anyone from trying to leave the Ark! The entire point of Security is maintaining order on an overpopulated Ark that has too few resources to go around, so if anything they would be ENCOURAGING people to leave.

... am I missing something major?

Exactly, what REMAINED of the mainland, the costal regions were all destroyed, there may not be enough water in the ice caps to cover the globe in water, but it sure as hell will sink anything nearby a sea or lake, or any where the water can be affected by the melted ice caps. probably some of the USA and canada will remain, like more of the center of the land mass, Europe would be destroyed, south america would probably nearly all coverd in water, Russia would mabey still have alot of southern land left, etc etc. The point is that as far as the people on the ark know, the world is destroyed, as they have lost contact of any land that they thought/knew was still there, well, that's what the founders said to them, they could be lying (like the resistance belives), or they could just be having problems with their communication systems, or the mainland may have communication problems, or both of them, we don't know.

First off, the "leaving the ark" trophy/achivment is from that "make your own achivment" topic that your thinking of probably, because they have not released any trophys/achivments for Brink that i know of, secondly, try reading http://www.fragworld.org/frag/brink/the-fragworld-brink-compendium.html twice, it should clear up your questions.

Yes I agree there. I'm no scientist to know how much the sea would rise. But total loss of comunication is very very strange. The sea wouldn't rise in a moment, it would take years for the ice caps to melt, which should give some time for people to relocate. And even if major infrastructures were destroyed (electricity, water, etc), why wouldn't there be someone with like a satelite phone or something. I'm just saying, the rise of sea level doesn't look like a extinction event, catasthrophic yes, but not extinction. Anyway, looking forward to how they explain it ingame :)

That's kind of similar to what I'm thinking. There must be more to the story than meets the eye.... at least, I hope it will be....? :poke:

It IS kind of weird to have no communications whatsoever....so we will see?

Oh, wait, what I am thinking? It's a FPS :gun: , lol, most FPS's (I'm sure there's a couple of exceptions to this, though) I have seen don't really have a coherent or satisfying or rational plot (see: CoD and Killzone 3, lol)...

It's like the Transformers (it's ALWAYS the same thing: Decepticons vs. Autobots), but with both sides being morally gray and thinking they are the good guys, heh.
I am HOPING there's a deeper plot, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well decepticons shoot eachother out of rage,

Bot 1: FLY THOUGHT THAT SMALL OPENING
Bot 2: BUT WE WONT FIT SIR!
Bot 1: *Shoots bot 2 randomnly*

Also Brink is going to be more in depth with their story, as you can see already, they have voice recorder things, similar to Bioshock 1 & 2, where you find these voice recordings around the map and they will play someone's voice recording explaining/advancing the story. At least, that's what i hope it will do.

Lol. Actually, the comics lately have been trying to give a bit of an "oppressed labor worker" and "illegal slave-gladiator" background to some of the Decepticons and they originally thought that the Autobots (who were higher-ranking and some were security forces) were being too oppressive and.....- wait, that sounds a tiny bit familiar, hmmm (plus the lack of Energon resources, too, and they had to leave Cybertron because the war destroyed their home and the Autobots had a spaceship called the Ark, and....).....

Oh, just like in Borderlands. I remember they had Audiologs/audio-diaries, too. That really added to the atmosphere and some of the quests' "storylines". ^_^

So basically you're hoping everybody dies. I see how it is, and here I was thinking you were serious with your apparent dislike of overly bloody resolutions. :frog:
