I need someone to optimize a certain mesh

...aaand yet another thread about meshes :D

I'm having an odd issue with the mesh of a http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22745 that I'm using. Whenever I approach to it (as if "touching" it), my fps suddenly drops a lot. I think it's an optimization issue because it doesn't happens to me with anything else in the game (and it's the first custom model with this issue). Problem is that my .nif editing skills are too basic to optimize models. So, someone up to the task?

Many thanks in advance.

P.D: It's a single mesh archive with no new textures (it uses Vanilla ones), so it should be a simple work, really...(but apparently I'm still too dumb to do it :( ).

Bump for Desesperative Trying™.

I'm pretty sure it's a physics settings issue, because if I "tcl" though the object, that bug doesn't trigger (fps keeps normal).

It is probably the Havok shape - I had made it really quickly in MAX and loking at it now it is a fairly complex havok shape that it created (much more complex than needed) -- I should have some time in the next couple days to load it back into MAX and recreate a simpler collision shape for it (figure 1 box for each mattress and 2 others for the head and foot boards so 4 simple boxes instead of the custom shape should work and will probably make it less of a drain on the FPS (though noone else had mentioned problems) -- I'll put it together and send you a download link for testing and if it improves things I'll update the resource as well for others. Is a PM from here the best way to send you the link or just a link in this thread when it is finished ?

In the meantime http://www.4shared.com/file/xoj5dEFB/UpperBunkBed02.html -- It is another copy I had with a different less complex collision shape (still not optimal but better than the resource one) and see if it helps ! - Let me know if it does and then I'll redo it again with an even simpler shape for you to test also !

Fixed that -> http://www.4shared.com/file/stGpWgLM/UpperBunkBed02fixed.html

The collision was as complex as the model itself. I also optimized the mesh a bit, so it's size is almost a half as that of the original.

NIce Job Trollf !! - Yeah when I had made it I simply used the original BETH bed mesh - cloned it and made the bunk bed and then had max create the havok without really looking to optimize it (was when I was first making any custom collision shapes) - so was not that good - Did you test your new one in game ? If so and it is working is it alright if I swap out the resource with your new version ?

It works in game. And you can swap the mesh with yours if you like - this can save you the time needed to reinvent the wheel for the second time ;]

omg, I went from having 0 alternatives to have 2 of them...lol

I'll use trollf's optimized mesh, thx man! BTW, also thx to JDFan, for this model and the Filled UpperWallShelf03 (I'm using both in my house mod). http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/1853/screenshot5h.jpg
