[WIPz] Oblivion Style Splash Screens

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:38 pm

Well, from when I just started texturing, I was also making random splash screens for the game, at first they were crappy, but I've since gotten better, and a while back I decided I'd try to make the splash screens nobody seems to try to make for Morrowind, save a few people, the Oblivion style splash screens.

Luckily for me, Bethesda was nice enough (or careless enough) to have left a PSD of one of their splash screens for Oblivion in the BSA, so I took a look at how they did it, remade the base resources for it, the background, center borders, found the font, ect, and got to work. Here's what I've got done so far:

I've only got four done, sure, but I had made a bunch more in the past, these are just the new, nice ones, with the parchmenty background and all that jazz.

So why am I posting here? Because I don't feel like coming up with a billion interesting little sentences to put into my splash screens, so I want you guys to give me ideas. You can also tell me places and stuff that you'd like to see a splash screen for, like Balmora? I haven't made a splash screen for it yet, throw me a sentence and I'll give it a shot.

Anyways, I'll let you guys pvssyr away, I've got a ton of mods to work on. :P

Screenshot looks great!

If you have ever played MW on Xbox you'll remember that the Load times throughout the game were very long, so Bethesda had lots of load screens like the ones seen in Oblivion.
They usually had hints, similar to Oblivion... but I can't seem to find them on the net anywhere.
They also incorporated some "Latest Rumors" and that was great for immersion.

Just some ideas, suggested from "Latest Rumors" dialog...
"One hears whispers in Ebonheart of the powerful Lord's Mail - but it has recently disappeared."
"Some people in the cities seem to be having terrible dreams and talking oddly, announcing the rise of Dagoth Ur."
"The Dark Brotherhood has been known to haunt the shadows beneath the city of Mournhold."
"The Dissident Priests elude the Temple in their secret monastery on the Azura Coast."
"If you seek the shrine that is no longer there, look to the seas to the West. Take a deep breath and begin your search."
"If you go adventuring in the Ashlands beware the Blight storms and Blight ravaged beasts."
"There are whispers of a secret beneath the Arena in Vivec."
"Looting Dwarven ruins is against the law, but the profits are often great."

These are awesome! Have you ever given thought to make Morrowind-style splash screen with text?

These are great! I should be able to use them somewhere.

I had in the past, but there are always the Xbox Splash Screens for that, the one's Pluto is talking about.

I remember finding them on PES once, and when I had Morrowind on Xbox I had ripped them from the game myself, for some reason there are image artifacts and such when you rip them, black spots on the bottom and stuff. I'll see if I can find it again...
