Lets make a roleplay

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:03 am

roleplaying a zombie, nice idea but I don';t think it would be much fun if every post the dialogue would be the few variations of mumbeling the word BRAIN (or Brian if you're trying to be funny) but Zombieroleplays aren't my thing, post apocalyptic isn't either, but you can give it a try since there is a large amount of people interested in them.

the guild war idea seems a bit unreachable, the illegal guilds can wage war in the shadows but actual open warfare and combat in the streets between fightersguild and magesguild... just doesn't make much sese, however there can be a Fightersguild Vs Blackwood Company roleplay with a few fights away from the cityguard in caves, forts or just in the middle of nowhere.

Well, one way you could have a guild "war" would be two legal guilds usinng politics and subterfuge to try to make the other guild illegal.

Ooh, just had another interesting idea. I want too think and be challenged. Perhaps have a court case or something to decide a difference in an ethical value.. For all those who have seen the anime Death Note will know what I mean...

I was planning to recreate Tabasco's RP http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=805286&hl=, which is based on Morrowind's Main Quest, but with multiple people moving through with it, instead of the single Nerevarine. Before I start it, I thought I'd put it out there, and maybe get someone to co-run the RP with me, atleast for the sake of avoiding past mistakes. I think having two GMs could serve as some protection if one were to suddenly disappear. Likewise, put down a grace period for player who disappear when it comes to major plot advancements, unless they say beforehand that they will be gone. Other then this, I was thinking something very similar to Tabasco's orignal idea would work out very well.

A Storyteller Rp is closely related to Tabletop RPing, as in the host is more of a Dungeon Master.

Ex.
Player: "I open the door with sword drawn"
DM: Behind the decaying port you see an UBER DAEDROTH OF DOOM
Player: Zomg!!!

the first one I can think that is recent was The Cave by Lycan

Or TES:Bioshock, as well as Kvatch's TES:Fallout

Both in that style and horribly mutated series half breeds.

Well, the RP I was talking about, and posted just a bit earlier, will be much like that, though not as clearly cut as Lycan's work, I'm sure.

I would hope for something rather more traditional

Yes rp's like that, with little inovations are great. where the GM actualy controles the flow and can implement all sorts of situations which can be fun, my own rp which unfortunately died because of a long absence was simular in a way, i was planning (if i moved on a little more) to control what items people get etc, some major battles i would control several NPCs or enemies, and i even decided to control the character sheets of those who wanted me too, deciding on the bulk of their sheet and how much they can remember from a spout of amnesia caused by something within the main plot.

Those breeds of RP tend to be more active and draw in more people, where as you tend to see alot of the good v evil RP's fade after a week or two, not because there bad, just because theres so many.

Guild War?

As in :

The Fighters Guild Crossing the Mages Guild, through some odd interaction involving two members? Then the war expands throughout Cyrodill, eventually involving the majority of guilds?

(Necromancers,Thieves, Dark Brother Hood,Fighters,Mages.)

Thieves would side with whoever, Mages would enlist the Dark Brotherhood's help, due to the fact that the fighters Guild has enlisted the help of the remaining Necromancers.

Now, you may say : Well, those two would never pair together!

They would if they were facing an enemy they thought more powerful than themselves.

Why wouldn't Ocato Stop them?

Lawl.Perhaps it's not under his jurisdiction?

---

Either way, quick idea. :D

I think a Guild War would be fun

I was just thinking about another possiblity.

There is a large area of land that hasn't been claimed by anyone and you want to claim it as your own. Unfortunately there are others who want to claim it too. If you want to be a commander, you start with 50 men. You can choose your starting setup (ie, 10 cavalry, 10 archers, 10 swordsmen, 6 pikemen, 2 spies, 2 assassins, 10 mercenaries). There would be a morale system (ie, 100 - best morale, fighting is good, 50 - meh. men are tired and need a victory but still have hope to raise it, 10-30 - men are surrendering themselves, trying to overthrow you (possibly), 0 - surrendered.) The idea would be that 30 and below are basically impossible to recover from. You could also RP as a soldier in the person's army with their consent of course. Then you would have fights where you control your men. If you are RPing as part of the another RPer's group you will have to deal with some minor character control (ie, retreat, advance, attack, etc.). Although the RPers could just not do twhat their commander wants.

To boost morale, you can pay your soldiers (bribe basically), get them new weapons/armor,

To lose morale, you lose a battle, suffer heavy losses (you can still win though so the loss isn't as severe), 2nd in command dies, bad weather (ie, rainy, lightning, thunder, snow, extreme cold) causing hard fighting, etc.

Also there could be possibilities for large boosts in morale or big losses. The commander could gamble and spend money to get a large boost, or a big loss.
Staying with possibilities you can ask for donations but you have to pay your "representative" for journeying to the local areas. You might not get much money, but you could also get lots of money if the townspeople supported your cause.

Every action to boost morale costs money. You stat off with x amount depending if you are a noble (start off with more money, lower morale. maybe like 85/90.). Or you can just be somebody that has a good amount of money and combat experience (high rank in a public guild, or well known guard/guard captain) and they will start off with less money but highest morale (95/100).

I had some more plans but can't think of them right now.

I recently left the site I used to RP on. The RP community was great but there was bad blood in other parts. So either way, I want to start the new year RPing more here.

genrally I like the interaction most in RPs. I write stroies anyway, but RPs have that companionship that single-writer stories can't have. I really want to RP somewhere =, preferably in something that takes both myself and my characters a little out of my comfort zone.
