Adapting Lattices to Armor in Blender

I was referred to this tutorial by the Fallout Nexus but they've been a bit slow on the response- As I follow the tutorial I get stuck on the part where I select my lattice in Blender's Edit Mode because when I do a piece of armor gets selected instead of the lattice and nothing gets done (because the tutorial says I can select and edit the lattice for body adaptation- that's the point). Edit-> As in, I go to select by type then lattice- and one of the many armor pieces get's selected (as in they aren't merged).

1. Select just the lattice and go to edit mode, just as you would with a mesh. Note that you can grab, drag, scale, etc. the vertices just like you would with a mesh. What's the difference? Now when you move parts of the lattice, the cuirass moves with it! You can use the lattice to smoothly edit the mesh.

I also read the preliminary basic tutorial: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Custom_Cuirass_in_Blender_Part_1

It tells me to import body meshes and delete their respective armatures after each import so that's what I did for the lattice job, then I imported the skeleton after deleting 3 armatures- lower body, upper body, and the armor's armature.

Any help is appreciated.

I took a print screen of what I get- the last piece of mesh that I edit to add the Lattice modifier gets selected when I select the lattice ONLY (as in by type):

Edit-> I was able to select the lattice itself by simply right clicking it instead of selection by type, unfortunately moving it's vertices in edit mode still produce no effect.
