(REQ) Caits Critters Retex

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:47 am

Hey.
First of all, I want to thank all those Modders, Modlers and Texturers out there who enhanced my game.
For those of you, who have a little time on their hands, I'd like to inspire you to retexture http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=1695 cause its a really nice ambiant mod (if you are not too strict with lore that is) but it just doesnt fit into Hi-res Morrowind anymore. So if there is anyone out there with too much time and experience in texturing, Id be the happiest man on Mars if he or she redid the Textures and/or the meshes.
Thank you.

Seconded.

I don't specifically see the creatures as lore breaking. After all part of the atmosphere of Morrowind is the Imperial culture bleeding into the traditionally xenophobic Dumner culture. OK, so the native animals are all reptilian, let's presume this is because Vvardenfell is an Island with unusual selective pressures as Cyrodiil is clearly populated with more earth-like fauna.

Well, if the Imperials came, to settle their medieval technology would have absolutely dependent on animals - so they would have brought their domestic animals with them, and in towns and farms they would have been protected from the native wildlife by the presence of man. So, I've simply edited the various Cait mods so that the only places where farm animals, cats, dogs etc can be found is in Imperial settlements, and then to a lesser extent the Imperial sympathising Hlaalu towns and plantations.

Anyway, getting back on topic, Cati's wonderful animals stick out a bit in a re-textured Morrowind, and I would love to see some high-res versions too.

That sounds like a good idea. This seems rather to be a task for a group of talented texturers than experienced modders and folks with such skills are rare these days.

Hmm, that is a good point you're making. I'm working on Pelagiad Expanded and I was going to not include cats and stuff even though they're in the construction set at the moment. But from a lore perspective, it does make sense that imperials would bring their livestock and domesticated animals to where they settled. And since Pelagiad is an Imperial settlement (now a sprawling town), cats, dogs and other earth like animals fit into the atmosphere without breaking the lore. Thanks. I needed that reassurance. Oh, and I am also for Cait's critters retextured/revamped. :)

I'll chime in for a retexture, too, since it seems that so many other folks are being supportive. I'd love to see these animals getting a face-lift. They add a great deal of character to the areas where Imperials have settled in.

But they haven't aged as gracefully as some of the other bits and bobs regarding the game.

So many other things have gotten much nicer textures... and yet... my cat is still blurry.
