It might be time to leave.

Seriously man! Don't be so freakin negative and hard on yourself. I view myself as an excellent writer, and many others have told me I am. I have never even took any writing classes or anything. In fact, sometimes I hate communication skills classes. (Except for the part where you write stories) I think the only thing that makes me a good writer is from reading so much and having a great imagination. So start reading and have an imagination and you'll be a great writer in no time! And personally I think this topic was unecessary.

Was that sarcasm or what man? Because I was being totally serious and I just took that the wrong way.

Well...I know it's not my place...at all...but don't you think that was at least somewhat conceited? :P

I do tend to have a little too much confidence in myself sometimes, but I do think I am a pretty good writer. ;) And if that is what you were trying to tell me, you kind of went about it the wrong way just to let you know, you pretty much mocked me.

Yeah I know. That was sort of the point. You should post some of your writing. I would love to see it.

Thanks, sorry if I was bragging on about myself a little to much. ;) I haven't really focused on a certain peice for a long time before and dedicated myself to it. Most of the stuff I've done is for school and what not. I have never really done any TES pieces either. I always get involved in other stuff like games and movies and hanging with friends and stuff. But lately after spending a lot of time on this forum I have been getting motivated. I might start writing something related to TES or something original.

Nobody has the right to make other people feel so inferior that they have to leave a forum.
^__^ stay.

I agree, stay, as you can clearly see, we don't all dislike you. I have found that, as a general rule, most RPs are far more forgiving than Fan-Fic critics (no offense to critics, your just doing your thing).

Join the Timeline and roleplay a bit, we'll do you some good.

I voted for the second choice, but also believe nobody here should be the reason why you leave. Be your own man, do your own thing.

Listen to people, in their rants you can find wisdom, there is a lot of it going around. Nobody would bother posting here if they just wanted to talk smack and make you feel bad.

First, don't start a thread about your self-pity or you will just get lots of negative posts and people laughing at you. Which is not good. It's up to you on whether you want to stay on the forums or not and nobody else. It's not a big deal and there is more to life than posting on here all day everyday.

Secondly, as you write more stories you will improve with time. Nobody writes their first story and it suddenly becomes a masterpeice. You will get criticism, everyone does. Even bestseller books get criticism as they don't suit their taste. Just perfect your writing skills, experiment a little until you find one that works for you and people like it. If your looking for help on how to write then don't take no stupid courses or read manuals, instead learn from other sources. Read some books and observe how they write and what language etc they use. Read some of the current popular fan-fics here on the forums and learn from them.

Thirdly, when you do post a fan-fic you will get criticism. Some constructive, some not. Don't listen to the 'Grammar nazis' who nitpick at everything and try and put you down. Everyone does make mistakes and these little things will improve with time. Also don't listen to the asses who just post pointlessy and say its rubbish. They most likely don't have a clue about writing so just ignore them.

I will be looking forward to reading your future Fan-Fics anyways, Good Luck :)

EDIT: Also as some people have said why not join some RPs. Most people on their are light about rules on perfect grammar and writing so it should be good practice on improving your skills. Alongside that it is fun too!

and don't think you are the only one failing here, when is the last time you saw one of my roleplays lat 60 threats? or 1 threat... ok for 2 pages then? yea thats right.

every time a roleplay of mine gets swallowed in the third page I feel down and sometimes get the paranoid idea everyone is ignoring me, but after a while I realize people are just too busy to notice sometimes and the unhappy feeling is gone.
everyone has to learn how to write fanfiction, it's not like they teach that at school or something.
(yes I know everyone said everything I wrote here but since I don't realy care about that I'll go on)
just get in a roleplay with not too many of the veterans like FC4, they can help but it's also fun to just roleplay for fun without any inteferance to get some fun out the writing.
my first roleplay was nothing but a battle with a bit of an introduction, I had fun in it and enjoyed writing how a lad of 16 years old jammed a glass battleaxe in the spine of a Mythic Dawn Acolyte, sure it was mindless batteling most of the time but it was fun, and nobody cared for the low quality because everyone enjoyed the lots of battles mixed in the plot and were just as bad as I was.

just stick around in a few roleplays and follow Storyteller's advice to take a look in the Timeline, nothing works as good for your writing (both in quality and content) as brainstorming with others and helping eachother out.

I agree with Cirith, you will find RPs more welcoming (generally) than Fan-Fictions.
