Anyone heard of any official Fallout fiction in the works?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:19 am

The title pretty much says it all. Most of the more popular game titles have at least a couple of related novels available. Mass Effect, Gears of War, Dragon Age all have novels as well as comics. It seems like the two I'd love to see more than any other, Fallout and Bioshock, aren't following this example. I know there's plenty of fan-fiction available but, honestly, I've never found much fan-fiction that I was very impressed with and, the amount of, let's just call it lower quality stuff you have to read through to get to the occasional gem, pretty much makes it not worth it for me. Has anyone heard any rumors of any officially sanctioned Fallout fiction? Thanks.

oops, I'm sorry this is off-topic guys .

I lost track of which sub-forum I was in and posted this in the wrong one. Unfortunately, I didn't notice it until after I'd clicked post.

If a moderator could move this to Fallout: New Vegas General Discussion I'd be most appreciative. Thanks.

I have not heard of any. But it seems like something they may do eventually.

An official Elder Scrolls novel was released last year, and a second is in the works, so it's quite possible Bethesda will pursue this with Fallout as well. However nothing about this has been said or even hinted at and it wouldn't surprise me if they'd want to release another Bethesda Fallout title or two before considering an official novel.

Yeah, I've read on the wiki that most of Fallout is based on Mad/Max (leather armor) and boy and his dog (Dogmeat) It's pretty cool to see my fav movies influence a game.

Speaking of games, they should take their time w/ fallout 4, as to make it less glitch than fallout 3/nv

The lack of Fallout novels was what inspired me to start writing a Fallout short story, actually. I'm not much good as a writer, but it's really interesting trying to project my image of the Fallout universe.

Haven't heard anything, and I'm a book seller.
But until that happens, can I recommend the Harlan Ellison story mentioned above, as well as Damnation Alley by Roger Zelazny?

It's not much, just one about the Outcasts from Fallout 3 (love those guys :P ) that I'm working on in my spare time; it avoids all of the main characters and story points of FO3 so hopefully there won't be lore issues.
