Is there a Make your own Scrolls mod?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:38 am

Just loaded a few mods for Morrowind, fresh installs and starting a new game. I installed something called Better Balmora or something like that. So I am wondering if there is anything else like that as well for the other towns or cities.

This really makes it feel like a new game now. I have Tamreial Revisted and haven't gotten a chance to go there yet, as I said just started a new game.

So I am wondering what else I should have installed. Also I am wondering if there is a mod where I make make magic scrolls. I am collecting paper, just as I did on the old xbox when I played. I am hoping someone made a mode where we find paper and a pen and we can make magic scrolls just like we do potions. If there is, can anyone please post a link.

I will try looking again, but I can't find any.

Thanks for taking your time to read my post. :)

Actually, no idea how much charge or whatever it is called papers have, but I'm sure you can enchant most, if not all, of the books and scrolls in vanilla game already and use it as magical item.

I'm not sure how well it will work, but one of my old side-projects that I was fiddling around with (I've never released anything publicly before... so it's all basically tailored to my own taste) which allowed you to purchase blank scrolls with decent enchant rates in a 'system' similar to that of Alchemy Apparatuses.

That is to say that I had Novice Enchanter's Scroll, Apprentice, Journeyman and so on up to Grandmaster, each with increasingly larger limits... but each also costing exorbitantly more to purchase.

It gets expensive, as a high-level enchanter...

... but again. No guarantee if that's your cup of tea or not.

I never herd of books being enchanted. I forgot about having magic books. That would be nice to have as well.

@ Colonel Tannanbaum, is your mode easy to use? Easy to install and uninstall if it causes problems or I can't use it? I will give it a try. It sounds interesting and not overpowered because it costs alot of money. How come you never released it?

Arcimaestro Antares did something similar in Scrolls And Soulgems: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6175

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2707 is pretty neat, too.

Oh, to be honest... I never really planned on releasing anything really.

When compared to the skill of other modders out there, I'm not even mediocre. I prefer, for the most part, not to go out challenging titans.

Now, that being said, I'd be more than happy to quick finish up the last couple loose ends on my scrolls mod and offer it up to you. It's actually very simple. It's essential an .esp and what... maybe five or six new copy/pasted scrolls? No other requirements other than Morrowind. It's pretty basic.

If someone wanted to point me towards some differing meshes and textures for the standard scrolls, I'd even be happy to make it so that they become more ornate and impressive-looking as you go up in quality... but really... that's about the most work there'd be to it.

The only thing you'll need to watch out for is that I've got them added to the local Mages Guild enchanters and the like.

Since I wasn't really expecting to release it... they're not in any of the leveled lists or anything. You've gotta buy them. Fortunately, the lower quality ones are cheap. You can buy the Apprentice Encanter's Scroll for 10 gold a piece. Now, considering a Master Enchanter's Scroll is 1000 per (and goes -well- beyond the limits of standard enchantment items)... I think that it's kind've balanced, overall.

Grandmaster Scrolls? Ha... you're gonna be lucky if you can find one to buy, much less afford it. However, they're virtually limitless in terms of enchanting.

That's the price you pay for the one-shot of doom.

Plain paper item has 50 enchantment, while rolled paper has 100. Some common books have 20, and few "unique" papers have up to 100 as well.

Now, enchantment that lets you summon Daedroth for a full minute costs 96 off charge so any rolled paper is more than enough for making pretty powerful enchantments. :)

I installed something called Better Balmora or something like that. So I am wondering if there is anything else like that as well for the other towns or cities.

Almost every town has been expanded in some form, and most have different ones you can pick from.
Some of my favourites: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1534 - http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=6909 - http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7187 - http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=5057
The bad thing about some town-expansions, is the increase in chance of conflicts with other mods. But a few quick edits in the CS is usually all it takes.
So I am wondering what else I should have installed.

Looks like your other questions have been answered, but I agree that "Inscription" is neat.

I just spent the last 1 hour looking through various Mod sites. I thought I found a custom scroll mod. Was about to download it untill I found out it was for Oblivion. Here I thought I was looking for Morrowind and I ended up in Oblvion files. :banghead:

Thanks guys, I will check the links out you gave me.

Yes CT finish your mod, I will try it out. If you worked so hard, a one shot Custom Scroll of Doom would be well deserved. :)
