Daedra reborn.

Daedra appears, gets killed, goes back to Oblivion, right? What's the limitation on whether or not they're able to return to Mundus straight after being vanquished to finish off the foolhardy adventurer that struck 'em down? Is it a decision, or are they physically incapable of returning for a period of time, or do their bodies reform in a weaker state and require maturation?

As I understand the time between being slain and actually reforming can be quite extensive, years or more (Not sure where I read that though), so it's not like say, Neverwinter Nights or Diablo 2, where players can get killed, respawn and jump back out a portal to finish what they started ;)

I believe they get reborn in the endless waters of oblivion, and have to search for a way back on their own, which takes years if not more. I believe Divath Fyr says that or something...

I remember reading that, which is what made me think that maybe they harbour no ill-will for being defeated, and that's why they don't return right away, they've acknowledged your abilities and given you time to recuperate.

After dying, they return to the waters of oblivion where, as bladeweaver stated, it could take years for them to find their way back to THEIR realm. so it takes a while, unless one of them has a chime of some sort that guides them back to their plane of oblivion, but only golden saints and dark seducers have that luxury, from what i understand.

No. Afraid not. Not even the crazy one, or the "nice" one, or the one with a thousand eyes and all the books. Those pretty words are very pretty indeed, but the Daedra are selfish, petty, vengeful, grudge-holding spoiled princes who collect mortals like fighting roosters or pit-bulls and do NOT take kindly to their little pets turning on them or losing their battles. Their rewards are generous not because they like you, but because if you had the power to outfit YOUR pit-bull with any weapon or armor of your choosing before sending it into the ring, wouldn't you? Of course you would! It means you win! And the Daedra want to win. They want it very, very badly.

Don't do this.

I mainly made that statement because of this:

"We feel pain, and fear it. We feel shame, and fear it. We feel loss, and fear it. We hate the Darkness, and fear it."

Well, I still don't know what The Darkness is. But, in the context of everything else that's been said, I guess I understand.

I focused more on this bit:

"As you may sometimes praise the fox or hare, admiring its cunning and speed, and lamenting as the hounds tear its flesh, so do we sometimes admire our prey, and secretly applaud when it cheats our snares or eludes pursuit.

But, like all worldly things, you will in time wear, and be used up. You age, grow ugly, weak, and foolish. You are always lost, late or soon.

Sometimes the prey turns upon us and bites. It is a small thing. When wounded or weary, we fly away to restore. Sometimes a precious thing is lost, but that risk makes the chase all the sweeter."

Why bother holding a grudge when they who insult you will die in the blink of an eye?

The Darkness is death, an echo of Sithis by proxy. They hate death because dying svcks. And they usually come back in a lesser form because they either can't "remember" their old form or they just can't return to it.

And that passage deals with not dying, but just being bested in battle occasionally without dying.

I know, but it could have had something to do with why the daedra don't return to Mundus right away. Obviously it doesn't, now that I know all the other stuff. But it was just a wondering of mine.
