Orcs are also my favourite race in the Elder Scrolls. Too bad there is very little info on them. Maybe 5 decent books on them, tops?

Not sure if there are any others, I am no lore expert at all so may have missed some.
One thing that always catches my eye is this line from Pocket Guide to the Empire (First Edition): Wild Regions.
"literally, 'Orsinium' means Orc-Town in the early Aldmeris. The goblin-ken (orcs, ogres, gremlins, and other beastfolk) that live in Orsinium favor the Elvish name for their settlement, for it suggests, at least to human ears, a glorious and beautiful fortress-city instead of the squalid and filth-ridden village-and-keep that it is. It was founded during the Camoran Dynasy, when hundreds of beastmen were set free by the rulers of the Summerset Isles and allowed to settle lands north of Valenwood. These Orcish tribes chose an uninhabited mountain region"
Does this mean that Argonians and Khajits live there as well and that they were part of the "beastman army"? I know that the orcs were originally thought to be beastfolk and that would explain at the end when they "[set free] hundreds of beastmen" and then say "These Orcish tribes". But at the top it says "orcs, ogres, gremlins, and other beastfolk". So does anyone have any specualtion into what that would mean?
That book is filled to the brink with Imperial propaganda. Orcs weren't seen as Imperial citizens back then, so the writer is heaving [censored] upon them to make sure there won't be even the smallest chance of somebody thinking that "hey, maybe those creatures actually have feelings, and maybe we should stop this sanctioned butchering of them and treat them like real, thinking beings?"
Simplified, that is. They were "enemies". Enemies need to be hated, or soldiers won't fight as good against them.
And Beastfolk seem to refer to most creatures that are neither men or mer, but at least looks somewhat like them, and (perhaps) are more or less sentinent and intelligent. For example, there are no relation at all between Kahjiit and Argonians, and probably not with the Ape-men Imga either (unless they share the Khajiits' history), but still, they are all called "Beastfolk".
Grotwog was quite the warrior, but it's a shame the Breton went down without barely a fight. I wonder if in 2016 when TES: 6 comes out, I hope it's in Orsinium.
Gortwog is an even better politician, so is TES V is in Orsinium, perhaps we'll get som real politics!
:hugs:
eh; the orcs can be intresting if they work more around them, orcs seem to be quit loyal and strong to the empire, and now there is no emperor and probaly many nobles are going on a vulture tour, i would vote the orcs are getting there own provincian
Orcs are only loyal to the empire because they want provincial status for Orsinium, and protection from their ("former" , in some cases) enemies in High Rock. With such a scheeming little rat as their leader, Orsinium would probably fall in behind whoever proved to be the strongest force if the Imperial Sovereignty was questioned.
