Character mods...?

Sorry if this is a repeat or anything... new to PC and the whole MOD thing. I was told that you can create awesome characters with MOD's. Is this true and how? The Oblivion characters I've seen (even with random) look so, so ugly.

Never mind. Saw some below

I refer you to the AZERbody/face category near the bottom.

http://www.gamesas.com/?showtopic=1010109 might help too.

Keep in mind that a lot of cool cosmetic mods require body replacers as well, so remember to check the requirements listed in the "Description" sections.

Try this: http://www.shsforums.net/topic/26339-how-to-make-a-beautiful-character/ - I use these tips every time I make a new character (except with my first one, Orionza - see sig - she's kind of typical without any mods). My characters might not be the most beautiful or the coolest looking, but I made them specific to my needs for the character I was working toward. Some folks' characters look so amazing, I agree!

Pay close attention to the saving tips (above link) while making a new character. I always save a game before leaving the sewer. When I get outside, sometimes something doesn't look right. On my current character, I played her for two days of questing before I realized that every time I looked at her she looked like Michael Jackson! So I went back to the sewer save and fixed her lip color and eyes and all it took was that to make her not remind me of him every time I played her LOL So definitely make a save because 99% of the time you'll want to change something after you get your character out of the sewers.

What helps me too are two mods:
* Natural Faces - really great for smoothing the texture of the face
* Canis Natural Faces Patch - gives the lips a bit of a gloss and makes them look more 3d (there are other features too but the lip thing I like the best)

If you still have trouble making your own face but using the controls, look at someone else's savegame of a face you really like then change it all up to make it your own. I have the most troubles with getting skin texture to match with the neckline; that one is really difficult for me and you have to play with the sliders and look at the neckline to minimize the break between head and torso.

Of course there are body mods. For gals: Exnems Eye Candy is nice for robust characters. Babs is nice for a petite, lithe body. I'm using HGEC body now on my wood elf (it fits the woodelf so nicely). There's Roberts body for guys.

There are high rez skin textures for most of these body types.

Good luck and have fun working on your character! I
