Daggerfall remake

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 5:15 am

I have played and loved all the Elder Scrolls game and look forward to number 5, but I Daggerfall is still the best story in my opinion. It would be awesome to see it remade with new graphics and all.

I started playing it today, and I want to follow the story but the controls are just inconvenient and difficult to use I'm starting to to lose interest. The horrible graphics and spaciousness of the world don't help either. Not to say It wasn't a great game. I'm just used to my 360 and so it's proving to be a little exasperating :(

Can't wait till Elder Scrolls V

Not likely to happen officially. If you wander over to the Past Games section, some people are working on something along the lines of a remake.

I know how you feel with regard to Daggerfall. There are things I like about the game, but I am finding it hard to really get immersed in the world. I can only play it in short spurts -- 2 to 3 hours tops. I've played for probably 30-40 hours total so far, which I know is not enough to really give it a fair chance, but when I consider that I am able to lose myself in Morrowind for 6 or 8 hours at a time, it indicates to me that Daggerfall feels less 'fluid' somehow.

Daggerfall is awesome once you get past the old graphics, thou I personally have nothing against them really.

I mean the Character creation is just superb.

The graphics probably fall last on my list of gripes with the game. My number one complaint is probably the bugs. I can't count how many times I had to restart or reload the game because of some bug.

But you're right -- the character creation is quite good. I also like that the game is difficult. It makes absolutely no apologies for your mistakes / decisions, and does not try to hold your hand in any way. It's brutal and honest... and I like that.

Indeed, but I believe most bugs can be fixed with the unofficial bug fix thingy.

Will try and find it when I get back home. IN the mean time ask around for it, someone got to have it.

I'm fairly certain that I downloaded all recommended patches and whatnot, but perhaps you are referring to something that I have not heard of. Please provide a link if you find it. :foodndrink:

Thanks. That looks pretty cool. Seems kind of like an unofficial CS for Daggerfall. If so, then I'm sure there will be all kinds of Daggerfall modifications now that it has been realeased for free (I hope).

Hit Escape, then clickon Mouse and choose VIEW,then choose FULL SCREEN,then go to CONTROLS and see your new keys. You now have WASD movement and mouse look, like you normal RPG's games of today.

It's more than that. DaggerXL is a complete engine remake supporting modern computers and operating systems.

http://daggerxl.wordpress.com/ (Be sure to check the sections with movies and screenshots.)

http://daggerxl.50.forumer.com/index.php (Where the community can discuss DaggerXL, report bugs, and propose new features.)

There are plans for it to support modding, so it will be a new engine and a game editor.
