I know Todd said they were really proud of their new fogging techniques. I just want to see if they have learned how to not have fog illuminate itself. To me, fogging was one of the most disappointing things in the Oblivion engine. Water and fog both gave off their own light. You could remove all lighting from dungeons and still see white fog in the pitch blackness. Playing with a darker nights mod and coming upon the Ivanpah race track and lake bed in Fallout New Vegas was comical. Perhaps this is why we never got dark nights in their past games, they couldn't figure out how to shut the lights off on the fog off and it just looked silly in the darkness.
I'm crossing my fingers that part of his pride has to do with they're learning how to turn the lights out.
Long render distances is one of the hardest problems to overcome. Even if that screenshot doesn't look too impressive in my opinion I am sure the progress made overall with render distances [since Oblivion] will be immensely awesome for gameplay itself.
Wow, one whole thing, eh? I'll ring the big bell here in the office. Everyone will be glad to know.
Most of us here appreciate all the hard work you're putting into this soon to be legendary game! There are a few though who think they have played the game already and point out things they have no idea about.
It looks a bit like it does here when it gets very cold and the ground is warmer than the surface temp or when the ground is much colder than the air. Either produces a fog which has a blue appearance. I don't know what it's called in the science world. I just call it a pretty effect of the weather. The effect I'm speaking of can be seen pretty well in the photo of my driveway in my sig.
One correct thing? considering Beth is the only company i can find who makes games this detailed and no one, although they try, can match TES for sandcox fantasy game. their 3 last games made GOTY.
I think they're doing EVERYTHING right, you just can't please everyone...
Damn right, these boys make games you can play for 200 hours before you even think about getting bored, and even if you do, you'll be back for more after a while, when so many are giving you 10 hours single player campaign and relying on ( and sometimes not even properly supporting ) multi player for sales.

Geekness- blueing with distance is caused by light interacting with molecules of the air itself, things smaller than the wavelength of the light, the same effect that makes the sky appear blue and the sun yellow or red. Particulate matter in the air will absorb photons, causing greying or darkening with distance.
