Underwater Lighting Problem

Post » Fri May 06, 2011 9:23 pm

I made a swimming pool for my mod and I put some enclave yellow light fixtures under the surface. My "lights" illuminate the water nicely and show thru the water plane, but the yellow glow from the fixture itself doesn't appear above the water. It's still there below the surface, but is there a way to get it to "shine thru" the water above it? I have the fixture itself being refracted by the water and it shows thru okay, I just can't get the glow to do the same.
Thanks

Did you refract the glow? If so, it may not work on semi-transparent objects.

Well, the glow is actually part of the light fixture and I have tried it with both the fixture being refracted and not. Doesn't seem to make a difference either way. I'm assuming the glow is part of the "glow map" of the fixture, but not sure.

Well, the "glow" is not from a glow map and I can't figure out how it is attached to the fixture. Maybe I'll have to try another fixture where you can't see the light so it looks more natural.
