...........It isnt happening. you picked a console to play your games on, but you want mods created on Comps to come on consoles aswell? you picked consoles for whatever reason that may be to you whether its ease of access, simplicity or just your preference. you get what you pay for my friend.

I'd say it's very unlikely.

Why such a smug response? Everyone who plays games like more content, jut because someone doesent want to spend the extra money for a gaming PC or whatever reason does not give you more right over him.

I agree that it's unlikely, but it's hardly fair to dismiss a massive proportion of TES fans and basically say they don't deserve the extra content just because of their choice of medium on which to play the game.

I'm not directing anything towards fans really, its just some people seem to think its simple to get mods on Consoles

How many times we have to go through this discussion?
Mods and Multiplayer maps for Halo or Far Cry 2 are different thing. Mods modify existing content, but yeah there is also mods what add new stuff like dungeos and all.

I have to say that I have nothing against having Mods on consoles but there is just some issues what makes it impossible.
Lets forget all that Sony/Microsoft preventing mods, that is something what I hope everyone knows by now.

1. First of all. Mods are not optimized for consoles, some new models have too high texture res or too many polygons. This will cause performance issues.

2. Mods tend to take a lot of space from your drive. I installed simple item mod few days ago, and it took 775Mt space from my drive. And I have currently around 40 gigs of mods
for Oblivion installed. More than average 360 hard drive can handle.

3. Conflicts tend to ruin your game experience unless you have tools like mod managers. Consoles wont have these, and you are forced to run only limited number of mods at the same time.

4. Construction Set wont just work on consoles. And it would require a lot of work for Bethesda, Sony and Microsoft to host all mods what are available for PC users to their own servers. I doubt that they will just
let people download mods from "Skyrim Nexus".

that is just some of the issues what prevent this. Not that consoles are worse option or anything. They just are not made for running third-party mods.

Read this post and end this senseless discussion please.......

I think it's somewhat short sighted to say it isn't happening when we clearly have an example of a game in which it is happening. Bethesda could use similar mechanics to bring PC content to the xbox as well. Playing on a console does not necessitate a lesser experience. In many ways, it's an improved experience over PC gaming. Bringing this feature to the consoles will just knock down one more reason that people view PCs as superior. I'm still hoping!!!

But you're okay with spending the extra money per game? :P

Its not gunna happen. I don't know what Portal 2 mods look like, but I know that TES mods are extremely deep and often end up relying on changes to the game itself (see: Oblivion Script Extender). That's impossible to do on a console version, as it needs to use an edited launcher of sorts.

Besides, if I recall correctly, Valve us using some sort of Steam application through the consoles, which will probably allow them to host their player-made mods in a way that they don't have to pay Microsoft or Sony their silly fees for DLC. Bethesda doesn't have that. They'd have to ask Microsoft to hose them, which would make them.. not free.

I agree.

looking at recent threads earlier this morning, the avg cost for an entertainment system (Consoles + TV's + Peripherals) can easily reach 700$ in addition to 60$ a game, the same aspect of which one can get a decent PC, their is neglible differences in pricing. I pay no more than would a console user thus I claim no supremacy or advantage. Consoles are for Games and entertainment, if you wish to mod, thats what PC's are for. Consoles are -specialized- Pcs.

and if you read my second post you'd see why this mod on consoles bit from the TES series is axed. you're not the first to ask/suggest and you wont be the last unfortunately

And some people think they're entitled to tell people off or respond in a rather patronising and demeaning fashion, which is just not wanted here. You even felt it necessary to quote yourself! at the bottom of your post? I'd be fine with that if it were a helpful post, not the little line of drivel you chose to quote.

I must thank you however for including a link in your post to another active discussion.
