Alive Waters or MMM Diverse Waterlife?

Post » Sun May 08, 2011 9:58 am

If using an FCOM game, which would you recommend?

Alive waters sounds more detailed and I like the idea of exploring sunken ships.

Has anyone experienced any problems running Alive Waters with MMM? Any opinions on the differences between Diverse and Alive?

Use the latest MMM Diverse water life. I haven't tryed to use them both so I don't know what will happen if you use both. I remember using alive waters with enhanced water and i kept gettin CTDs when I whent near to any water that was long time ago though. So I havent used Alive waters mod in a while.

The MMM mod is part of MMM, so you can depend on its working with FCOM, but some users use Alive Waters as well. If you need to choose one, go with MMM's mod, but you can try both if you want...

Edit: Your CPU will let you know if you can handle both...

No fish version of Alive Waters is available if you wish:

From what I can tell it is based on an older version though.

The latest MMM-Diverse water-life barely uses CPU... or at least for me it doesn't.

I did not say anything about not using MMM's plugin. However, more fish means more AI packages to process.

I'm running Fran's and Mart's. I've got Alive Waters and DiverseWaterlife going, but no problems yet. Haven't taken my relatively young character at this point for many trips below water level, though. I'll have to do that, and report back.

MMM Waterlife should work with everything but the Fish!!! Mod which is what MMM version came from.

MMM Version is just adding new fish and new spawn points for those fish to world nothing else is changed.

and has been tested with Alivewaters+OOO Fish.

MMM is light when compared to Alivewaters and OOO fish when it comes to cpu usuage.

MMM script and aidesign are little more optimized and work a little bit better has it was team effort to figure out what was needed to make fish swim from rock to rock and not beach themselves etc. or go through the land, to get to another rock,

The team is working on Alivewaters and OOO fish script and ai updated to what he have learned from MMM Waterlife. To make those mods more optimized and work better. Still going to get cpu hit from Alivewaters has it changes alot of things once again underwater . OOO fish not so bad, but still, script is not optimized like MMM is . We hope to release these soon.

I was hoping to use one or the other, not both.

I'll try alive waters then since it sounds more detailed (sunken ships!).
If my CPU can't handle it i'll switch to diverse waters.

Thanks for the replies/suggestions/opinions.

If you have a CPU that can run FCOM decently, you should be able to handle one...All that really matters in that case is how much performance you are willing to trade for the new content.

I use Alive Waters with a full FCOM set up and 200 other mods (including a water texture mod) with no problems.

...and what kind of system are you running Oblivion on? There are plenty of people running that kind of setup, and there are also plenty of people with systems that have 2.8GHz Core2Duo or better processor.

Of course both, they complete each other!
Of course one should not forget the 2 fixes of Alive Waters (Nexus) which fix the bugs with the grass.

Secret information: Don't get me in trouble for this!!!

One of the things being tested right now is an FCOM - DiverseWaterlife, which is a merge of MMM - DiverseWaterlife and OOO - WaterFish. Should hopefully work extremely well with the modified AliveWaters version if testing goes well and permission is received.

The second fix is not actually a fix specific to AliveWaters, but it is a good fix to get anyway.

For the time being Alive Waters - No Fish, and MMM Diverse Waterlife is probably your best bet.

Yes, but make sure you use the No Fish version of Alive Waters. That way you get the new underwater textures, sea weeds and ship wrecks from Alive Waters and the more optimized Fish from MMM.
