Fallout 3 Flashback

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 4:50 am

Alright, I've found some weird stuff on the internets. Now, this doesn't look like a mod, but there is something weird about it. It's a flashback, however brief, but the meaning is unclear. I'm posting links to the video and a corresponding article. Please watch the vid first.

After you do this, it might occur to you that this is an Easter Egg for bioshock, but it's strange.

I haven't found any other flashbacks in the game, so I'm wondering what you thoughts are and possible explainations. Note the vid isn't mine but it brings up something interesting.
Thanks for posting.

So you too have found the arcane delights of the Dunwich Building, what are it's secrets? We may never know or care.

Note that the building is torn all the way to the bottom floor, but no bomb could get that far without collapsing the building except an atom bomb, but the building is still standing and there is no atom bomb at the bottom, the damage is only conclusive with something massive emerging from the building.

When I saw that scene I thought it was just my character saying: "Ah, so that is the guy mentioned on the tapes!". Saw it as a neat way to let me know who that guy is without having to check the Ghoul's name.

Honestly, I liked it in a way, it was one of the few attempts in Fallout 3 at showing Feral Ghouls are more than a kill piece. It shows that that Glowing One was at one point a normal man like you or I. I liked it because of that.

This.

Showed a normal person working at the place pre-war, and now is a irradiated, mindless zombie.

Agreed; I thought it was fairly creepy and quite effective.

It's good for us to be reminded that stuff we mindlessly mow down is, or at least once was, more than just our cannon fodder.

I also love the fact that they worked in a creative Lovecraft reference, i.e. one that is not so much supernatural as scientific given the science of the FO universe.
