Question: anolyze Load Order/Crash

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 5:31 pm

I am going crazy here. I finally had everything exactly how I wanted (for the time being, of course I will get more mods later, but at least to get started), and I get into the game, start messing around and notice every single time (almost) I try
to close the game, it does a CTD error on exit. Saying something about having to close down the program. OK, so the first thing I do is start debugging. I think I have narrowed it done. Below, I want to list a bit of information about my system,
installed mods, and setup.

System: I have a Alienware MX17 Laptop, with Windows 7 installed (64 bit). Then on Morrowind I have the Morrowind Code Patch, installed into it. Then I have the script extender setup for use as well.

For my mods, I have the following "Mods" installed, in the following load order. The only exception is I also have a variety of texture replaces that do not contain ESP and ESM files. Those are listed below the mods, in no particular order.

Currently Installed Mods
ESMs
Morrowind, Tribunal, Bloodmoon, Better Heads Tribunal, Better Heads Blood Moon, Better Heads, Morrowind Patch, MW Children, TR Data, TR Map 1, TR Map 2,
BT WHite Wolf.
ESPS
Area Effect Arrows, BCSounds, Master Index, Siege At Firemoth, Better Bodies, Tribunal Laura, Constance, Better Clothes, Ravenloft,
BT Lookken Child, New Argonian Bodies, New Khajit Bodies, The Sable Dragon, MTC Com, Mel Teleport, Mel Teleport Patch, More Better Clothes,
The Neverhalls, Forgotten Halls

Textures/Mesh Replacers
Darknut Armor Replacers, DarkNut Creature Replacers, Morrowind Visual Pack (I installed the visual pack, then each of Darknuts.

OK, so that's about all.

So I have 3 questions.

1. How does my Load Order look? Could it use a little bit of tweaking. I am planning on getting this final list of main mains perfect, getting the load order perfect, and when I am done I am going to do a external hard drive backup of my entire folder. Any advice on load order would be appreciated.
If you see any tweaks to optimize it or anything, let me know.

2. CTD Crash. I have isolated this. The base game with all mods (but the famous teleport mod and it's patch) works fine. I see no CTD when exiting the
game. Then if I try it with JUST the script extender (tried it 2-3 times) and I had no issues. Then finally with the teleport mod, and it's
patch. When I do that, then most of the time (if not every time) it does a CTD on exit. Any idea on why this might be happening.

3. Are there any MUST HAVE mods that I am missing. I want to get a really good mod setup going before I even start my game. I can switch them around some later, or add new ones, but i there
are any really high quality MUST HAVE mods that I need to get now, I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks again.

Thanks again.

You can get your Load Order with Mlox or Wrye Mash.... instead of having to type it out like that.
But if that is your Order, it looks fine from the mods I recognize. Did you run it through http://code.google.com/p/mlox/wiki/Mlox to see what it suggests?

The game often crashes on Exit. This happens to everyone.
If the teleport mod works fine as you play, I would not be too concerned with it increasing crashes on Exit. Like I said, they are common anyways.

"Must have mods" ?
Well, they are different for everyone. I made http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1060141-mod-recommendations-for-new-players/page__p__15392814#entry15392814 to help get you in the right direction. It does have links for many "lists of favorites" from other people here in the community.

EDIT: You should really make a Mashed List.esp with Wrye Mash, and a Merged Object.esp with TESTool (or SmartMerger)
They will ensure your mods work alongside each other, and be balanced correctly.

Hmm ok. I always appreciate the advice. Helps me out a lot.
OK, so I did the Mlox. That had a few adjustments (which were logical) so I did that.
I also am going mod hunting on some of those links. Thanks again, I appreciate that.
I am making the mashed lists and merged objects right now.

Thanks again for the feedback.

It's been a long time. So for the mashed lists, I do it for all mods? Just highlight them all, perform the merge, and then put it at the bottom of the load order?

Edit: Nevermind. Not that complicated.

MW isn't the only program that tends to crash on exit in windows 7 x64. It's annoying as hell, especially when task manager can't shut it down either, but as far as I know, there's no cure.

At least I know that it's normal. I wanted to avoid it if it was happening because of a mod or something, but if it's something that is suppose to happen then I am fine with it.
