Randomly generated quests-
Maybe.. as long as it not the sum of all quests, like it was in Daggerfall. Still have a quest line for each guild. Maybe give some random quest options that you can always do, whether you've finished the quest line or not. Keep in mind, though, that even with random quests you'll still run into the "it gets old" feeling once you've seen 'em all. But, on the other side of the coin, you'll always have an option for something to do.

Climbing- The grapple thing might be neat. But, to do that, they'd have to make cities where they're actually part of the game world again. Oblivion was a big step backward in that department. I think I even ran into a few instances where it was raining in the Imperial City, but clear blue skies outside.

I looked at that pic of the ordinator with the cloak. That indeed rocked. Just so long as there's a good variety. Y'know, make me feel indecisive about all these fancy duds... and just so long as we don't run into a whole parade of NPCs wearing it all.

What I'd personally like-
Bring back real knightly stuff. Can become a knight in several ways in Oblivion. But, once you do, that's all there is. Was a little more of an involved process in both Daggerfall and Morrowind. Knights of the nine had the unfortunate thing of making you a world renown muckey-muck. Blah. Bring back some real knightly stuff. And hey.. bring back Chrysamere, too. :stare:

Multipliers for the win!

If you have 50 different quest goals, with 10 different sub-goals, 10 complications, 20 secrets to discover if you're observant, that's already 100.000 different quests.

Quest: One of my #LAND_CARAVAN_TYPE# got lost in #NEIGHBOURING_PROVINCE# during #BAD_WEATHER_TYPE# a few days ago. Please investigate for me.

Subgoal (example 1): There was #ARTEFACT# in there, which holds great personal value to me. If you can, please retrieve it.
Subgoal (example 2): My #DISTANT_FAMILY_TYPE# #PERSON_NAME# was leading the expedition. I would be very thankful if you could bring him/her back safe.
Subgoal (example 3): I'm fairly sure it was the doing of #RIVAL_BUSINESS#. Please keep an eye open for any signs of their involvement, I will pay extra for any solid proof.

Complication (example 1): A band of #SAVAGE_RACE# claims the caravan passed through their lands and it is now by old rights theirs. A diplomatic approach might be possible.
Complication (example 2): The weather forced the caravan into hiding (in a cave or onto a rock island) after getting lost, where they were cut off from the rest of the world. Even finding them might prove difficult.
Complication (example 3): A band of mercenaries captured the caravan and are moving it, slowly, to the next lawless city. If you hurry, you might be able to reach them before they do, else it will get really difficult.

Secret (example 1): The caravan is used for smuggling, and finding it out might get you a leverage in getting better pay - or it might better your standing with the guards, if you rat them out.
Secret (example 2): The caravan leader is secretly planning to sell it off to a rival, but the accident forced his hand and he's desperately trying to inform his contacts of a late arrival. This gives you the chance to find out about it.
Secret (example 3): The caravan disturbed an ancient spirit who, while not malicious, would still rather have his/her burial place put in order again.

I agree that Daggerfall had many many good points, like multiple endings for the main quest. I would like to see all the role-play elements from Daggerfall re-introduced, climbing, clothes (and them acutally making a difference), streetwise skill etc, as well as Random quests, as suggested. However the likelyhood of this is slim given the current gaming climate of simpler and easier the more money we can make, sod the fans, who will buy it anyway.

How about bringing quest deadlines back. They don't have to be for every quest but ones that are meant to feel like it will be the end of the world if you don't do this quest should have deadlines for sure.

Multiple endings tend to make world continuity a bit of a tricky thing. Thus, "The Warp in the West". I'm fairly certain we don't necessarily want to nuke another province just so we have two endings. Isn't wrecking the iliac Bay and Morrowind enough?

What about echo's in the dungeons? In Daggerfall i could hear a skeletons cry while it wasn't anywhere near me. I always imagined it was the echo that got carried over a great distance (Reflected by the stone walls). It really creeped me out that i could hear it screaming and not being able to find it.

Edit: i know the skeleton was near technically speaking. To my -character- it seemed as if it wasn't near.

Yes! It svcks to end up in a world where you already have solved every trouble anyone has. And even joining factions should be much harder, and impossible to beat all of them with one character.

I have felt for years now that the ultimate Elder Scrolls game would include:

50 percent morrowind (size, pacing, depth, world location spacing)
30 percent Oblivion (combat mechanics, graphics, AI, better quests - but without 3 actors voicing them all)
20 percent Daggerfall (world scope, political intrigue, complexity, freedom)

I know this will never happen as unfortunately, the console kids are driving the dumbing down of the series we love.

But, I can dream.

I can agree with this. The atmosphere was spooky, but there was never that threat of death (unless you used mods) that really made it scary. That being said, the sixth house dungeons were the creepiest things I have ever seen in a TES game

I play OB in 360 and i would love that, so dont put in the same bag to all console players.
