What is the name of this texture/how do I replace it?

The texture in question is: http://img820.imageshack.us/img820/5769/51073632.jpg

I can't find the texture on the on the disc and therefore don't know it's name.

Many thanks in advance.

Chainy.

It's included in "Morrowind Launcher.exe", a program like ResEdit is required to extract/replace it. To actually publicly release the replacer, you'd need to make a patch of some sort.

Thank you for the quick response!

Are you saying that releasing a modified exe as a replacer is not allowed?

I'm pretty sure Beth wouldn't be very happy about it, you aren't supposed to post original aspects of the game unmodified, and even if it did have a new background, it would probably be classifed as piracy or something. Anyways, make the new background, and THEN worry about making a patch.

I've thought about replacing that background myself, with GotY, it only has Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon, I wanna add Tamriel Rebuilt maps one and two, and maybe my Province: Cyrodiil logo.

I see. I hope you understand that I wouldn't want to go to the trouble of creating a replacer if I wouldn't be successful in writing a patch.

Modifying the exe would be ideal for me, perhaps a moderator can clarify wether that is ok or not?

I personally don't see the difference between doing that and releasing a 'retextured' guar or some such...

You could release all the textures and add install instructions, not ideal, but it would work. I could help you out with that, it's not that complex.

Oh, wow, that launcher looks better than the Goty version! :o

Any way to get a new texture into the .exe? Sorry if that was a dumb question, I'm not super smart when it comes to these things. :(

Via Reshack for example.

I have managed to get a new texture in with ResEdit, can't figure out how to extract the old one though, although that shouldn't be a problem as it could just be deleted, I guess.

That's just the launcher for when you've only installed Morrowind and Bloodmoon, the launcher changes it's texture depending on what you have installed, there's one for just Morrowind, one for Mw+Bloodmoon, one for Mw+Tribunal, and then the GotY version. It would be relatively easy for one to grab one of the textures, and use it to replace the GotY launcher's texture.

I have the GOTY version but it always switches to that texture in my TC installation.. Think it happens when I run the exe without having the regular bsa/esm in the data files folder...though not sure why.

Anyway, texture issues solved, just wondering still if anyone can clear up wether I can release an exe or not.

In the meantime I'll be taking the less ideal route...

You could ask Hrnchamd about making a patch, but he's probably busy, and I always bug him with all my crazy requests based on the Morrowind skies and stuff. :P Not that he was even able to help me out with that, he's got a lot on his plate...

Yeah, would definitely be nice if the code patch could open up the option for people to make simple texture replacers for it.
