I think Halo has more of an arcady feel to it. Never played Killzone though, but my friend says that it has objectives and classes. So that makes it even bigger of a difference I guess.

Mmmmmmm, arcady? Nah, I'm not sure it is. Honestly, thinking about it, I can't think of a single gameplay difference apart from being able to jump higher in Halo, and better level design in Killzone.

You forgot Mirrors Edge. If anything it's more Mirrors Edge than Assassin's Creed.

What I wanted to say. :teehee:

Either or. Mirror's Edge offers a more acrobatic style gameplay compared to Assassin's Creed, but the AC series is more automated with its parkour, similar to the SMART button.

Mirror's Edge is nowhere acrobatic, it's Parkour from the ground up. And the overall movement feel is a lot more similar to BRINK.
The Assassin's Creed Parkour-system is largely build around allowing some stealthy-ness - even though the game isn't really designed around stealth.

Granted, the Parkour controls from AC are almost identical to the SMART controls in BRINK, but the overall feel is Mirror's Edge.

What exactly is the difference between Halo and Killzone apart from colour palette?

The console.

Oh, and Halo is a American-Asian style candy world, whereas Killzone is a European style dark world.

I think Brink might be a game that is played alot by other games. They play because they wish to learn how it is done!!
But they relise they can not copy Brink's sheer AWSOMENESS!! and so they roll over and :dead:

so yeah, just the colour palette.
OH WAIT! Killzone has you fight a legion of brainwashed enemies that represent Nazi's, Halo has you fight legions of a legion of brainwashed enemies that represent the Persian empire.
SEE WHAT THEY DID THERE?
Oh, and while Halo 1 is a pile of absolute horrible [censored]e, Killzone 1 is actually still pretty alright.

EDIT: it's weird that it censors part of the word. What if I was to type s[censored]horpe?

EDIT: Holy crap it actually did it! lololololol :lmao:

I think it's obvious no-brainer 'own game'. Yes it's a fps so it has to have some similarity's to other fps but, they are doing a lot of things different that could possible be an evolutionary process to the fps genre.

Halo: Combat Evolved was awesome, imo. Much better than any of the sequels.

Well I played it for the first time last week, so maybe it didn't age too well. It could be me, though, because there's not a Halo game I'v ever enjoyed. 2 is alright I suppose.

Its own game. Were the devs perhaps inspired by interesting features from other shooters? Possibly. But is Brink actually similar to any of those games outside of basic things like having guns and the ability to climb stuff? No, I don't believe so. :disguise:

We have a new art style and the best combo of real and comic MIX'ed into one game ... I'd say We have the first Original FPS since BioShock

I really don't get why everyone seems to compare Brink to Mirrors Edge. From my understanding the SMART system is VASTLY different from how movement works in Mirrors Edge.

Every game company looks at other successful games for ideas and inspiration, they would be stupid not to. However, it is up to the developer to be mature enough to take those ideas and improve upon them instead of ripping them and creating a direct copy. I think that Brink has looked at other games for ideas, but will have its own vibe and feel to it. It will be it's own game.

A brilliant color should not be defined by its blend of two or three others.

Brink is too unique for these labels.

Where's the "Timesplitters + Battlefield + Borderlands" option?

It's vastly different from how controls work in Mirror's Edge.

But the movement is very akin.

This thread is incredibly stupid. People who make these comparisions are also incredibly stupid.

Brink is not Mirror's Edge. Just because it has freedom of movement and you can climb stuff doesn't mean it's Mirror's Edge. There has been parkour in other games. The mechanics are very different. Stop comparing it to Mirror's Edge!

Brink is not Killzone. Killzone 2 ripped the classes off from ET and TF2.

Brink is not TF2. Some of the classes have similiar abilities (they still aren't same tho, healing works different, disguising works different and so on). The gameplay is very different, it's about objectives. And the art style isn't the same.

Brink is not Borderlands. Nothing between these games are similiar. Borderlands is an RPG. The art style is different, Borderlands has dark edges etc.

Brink is not Call of Duty. Nothing is similiar with CoD.

Thankfully, it's amazing so many company's want to copy cod. This why I have such great interest in Brink it looks to be completely different from cod in all aspects. I guess you can call it the anti-cod game.
