Make Achievements have some gameplay effect

If you keep calling it achievements people will resist.

Yes very poor choice of topic titles.

Let me get this straight. Say you help a count out with an Orc, you could get a shield and a free house, or you find these stones in the middle of nowhere, you could get one a day temporary stat boosts, or retrieve an amulet for a grieving widower, you get a boost to health and fatigue from her grave. Yeah I love this idea. Here's one : word your OP better, don't spend half a thread telling people they don't understand.

In retrospect, I agree.

But I didn't know the TES community was so childish, and I used the terminology from the game I was talking about anyway.

Since I can't edit the title maybe the mods can lock this thread and I make another one with better wording/explanation.

Achievements are just supposed to release endorfines so you become addicted to achievements, that's all. Not affect gameplay.

Achievements aren't supposed to be intertwined with the game, they are just there... so you feel all good inside.

This, with emphasis. They're to remind you that you finished a quest in the game. You know, in case you didn't notice it. :P

Please read the topic?

Read it again, my opinion remains unchanged.

Now this I like. Make the damn game, and let the player decide when they've "achieved" something.

There will probably be achievements (or whatever you want to call them based on system) as all modern games seem to have them. Personally I really can't care less about them but please let them have no in game effect.

You know, these existed in Baldurs Gate 2. Just weren't called achievements. After you would get a stronghold, there would be some effect to it every week or so. The game reminded you of it and you went to it to pick up the gold, or send your men to missions. You're just too close minded to associate the word achievement to something other than a stupid grind. :shakehead:

edit: mods please close this so I can open up a thread with better wording, I didn't know so many people here were that ignorant.

I am closing it but we don't want another one, not with the flaming in your last post.
